Fellow AGers,

My wife was out having out a business dinner, so what better time to spend on detailing my bike for the summer season than now!

It's a 2005 Santa Cruz Blur with the best of the best on it. If you're into mountain bikes, you might recognize some of the bits. A very, very nice bike and it's a shame I don't take better care of it. But when you're taking 4 foot drops, and smashing the bike into whatever crosses your way, well, detailing isn't always on the top of your list!

Here we go, enjoy!

You can see how dirty she is, no washing probably over 6 months!

These were my tools: the Lowes Foam Gun, some Poorboys Bug Squash, P21S and Megs Gold Wash!

After the Foam Gun session!

After this, I blew the entire bike dry with my Ridgid Shop Vac...

And here are the afters! Enjoy!

It's the Lowes Foam Gun that I bought a few months ago. Since then, I think quite a few fellow AGers have picked it up as well. Don't get me wrong, it's no Gilmour, but it does the job and it does it right! And all of this for only $10, you cannot beat it!

Thanks Sparkie! This mountain bike cost me more than you'd want to know, so detailing it actually made me feel good!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it...

HAH! I think they've been around for a few years now. The first few generations left me unimpressed, but the Shimano XTRs are something different.

The bike has XTR hydrolic brakes, sprockets, shifters, crankset, front derailer and rear derailer. Shimano all the way baby!

If there is one thing I don't like about the bike, it's the Fifth Element rear shock. It just annoys the crap out of me. I should have gone Fox on the rear as well. It's my second one, the first Fifth Element broke under pressure and they had to send me a new one under warranty.

the old shimano 4 pistons were the best disc brakes ever.... better than juicy 7's Im the MAN

That bike's clean now. I bet you don't wanna take that out anymore :D

everytime i looked at the air cylinder i kpet thinking abotu my old bosses little sneaky pete nos bottle on his street bike....

then i slapped myself in the forhead and said "wait why would a mountain bike have nos" haha (dont tell anyone on dtw i said that its almost as bad as my looking for 6th gear in a 5 speed)

but all in all a very nice bike, clean too....one of my football coaches was very muchso into the sport i do beleive he said over a grand invested into his bike.....i tried bmx once and found it wasnt for me.

Your bike looks like it's new. Thanks for sharing another one of your passions with us. It's nice to see a different side of a fellow Geek.

That is one sweet bike, looks like someone takes there biking serious. I like the suspension and the components, very nice.

Dude you take some really nice pictures wow...you sure make the bike look good. I'm assuming you took a class on how to take pictures? I've been looking on taking a class on how to take pictures and using the settings on the cameras, well more like understanding what the settings can do.

Tanks for sharing.

He he, nice detail, remember not to put tire gel on the tires;)

AND those close up pics was SUPERB, got to get me a new cam, Seriously nice pics...

Looks great! Bikes sure have changed since my old schwin 10 speed!
