After 2 weeks of rain, I finally took the opportunity to get out and wash the Pilot. It was only 97 degrees, but nice and sunny.

Toilet brush (dedicated to car - not the toilet )
Various other brushes including the Daytona

Exterior
Two bucket method - Megs Wash and Wax
AG Foam Gun - DP Xtreme foam
Microfiber sponge
Griot wash mop stick kit
Dried with blower

Wax

And I just realized that I hadn't dressed the tires when I took the pics. Just imagine a medium gloss from optibond.

Thanks for looking,

Jenn

Nice work Jen...

As a former Pilot owner, (black), that's a lot of work to tackle in one day... while not overly challenging to machine polish, it is plenty of work just to do a great job of washing and drying a Honda Pilot like any large S.U.V.

After owning, maintaining a black S.U.V. I'm a walking testimony that only "cool" cars should be black. Everyone reading this can define to themselves what their opinion of "cool" is but for me... if I ever buy another S.U.V. it will probably be silver metallic.

One thing I did like about washing and drying the Pilot was I would do this before going to the gym to work out as it's a great way to really stretch out all your muscles and warm up. It's killing two birds with one stone. Then take something that's still dirty to the gym and quickly put the Pilot back into the protective shelter of the garage.

:D

I love people that upload their picture to the Autogeek Gallery...
(Yeah I check most peoples posts)

It insures no red X's into the future... or default graphics that say the picture is no longer available.

Looks good Jenn, hows the cabin air filter holding up?

It's about time to change it again. If you want, I'll post pictures of my deconstructed dash board when I change it. Too bad I don't have a video camera or you could watch as I curse the bolts that are impossible to get to up under the dash. At least I already sawed off the plastic piece that was "made to be removed". Go figure.

Thanks for the kind words. It is quite the work-out to get that thing clean. I only "hose" wash it when it is really nasty and try to ONR it the rest of the time. That way I can sit on my rolling stool and feel like I am really able to attend to the nooks and crannies that I don't miss because with the soap I can't always tell where I've been

As for the silver metallic....that steel blue is QUITE forgiving when it comes to swirls and scratches. I am really glad I decided on it instead of the black or the really dark green.

Looking good there Jenn. Yes it was hot but not as humid as the previous days!

I kept worrying about it raining on Sat so I waited until Sunday. I don't think I could have tolerated doing it on Friday or Saturday. I am a good Mississippi girl and used to be acclimated to the humidity, but now it KILLS me.

That blue is a tough color to make pop. Looks good!!

Tell me about it.

I've only 1 step polished it and can find no swirls just some rids here and there on the hood. I've tried SSII, Max Wax, Liquid Soveran, DP Sealant, Collonite, and just about everything else you can think of and it still looks the same. I don't really have the physical stamina for a complete 2-3 stage correction and wonder if having it done professionally would really make that much a difference.

I think it looks better in person than it does with my cheapie camera.

Nice, you almost don't even need to dress the tires.

That comment leads me to one of my tips... I discovered long ago if I wipe down the tires and mud flaps while they're still wet after a wash I rarely need to dress 'em. I still do it once a month or so or as needed. But I always dry off the tires and wheels before the rest of the vehicle and they retain a clean, matte finish sans dressings. YMMV.

Nice job on the Pilot, Jenn!
