2006 New Formula Red S2000

Are you sure you didn't buy a new S2000?

That's a real job !! :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the info, I thought it was CC but Matt said at the start of this thread his is SS.

Misinformation on my part. Guess I forgot to go back and correct it. NFR is the only color that uses a tinted clear coat, which happens to be very soft. The pad won't turn completely red when polishing, just sort of "pink". Also, I think 2006 was the first year for this (or maybe 05). I'm pretty sure the earlier NFR S2Ks didn't have tinted clear coat, just for future reference if anyone is polishing one.

As for Berlina Black, polishing that paint should be very similar as it's also VERY soft. For removing defects, you shouldn't need anything more than something like Menzerna SIP or Wolfgang TSR unless the paint is really trashed, in which case you would step up to M105. For finishing, Menzerna PO85RD or 3M Ultrafine work great. For some reason, my paint hates finishing with Menzerna - something with the oils leaves the paint very cloudy with streaky oil residue everywhere, and there's no way to remove it short of going over the whole car with Megs Body Solvent. For this reason I stick with 3M Ultrafine for finishing.

On most S2Ks, you can finish with M205 without issue. My paint is so soft that M205 leaves substantial hazing. I suspect BB may do the same thing. It seems like the metallic colors are a bit harder - for example, my friend has a Suzuka Blue and M205 finishes perfectly with a white polishing pad. If I do that on my car...things would be looking pretty ugly. :props:

Matt, Mine is swirled pretty bad with some RIDS. I bought 105 & 205 from the advice of Mike and others on here. I have a GG with 5.5 LC CCS pads (orange, white, black, blue). I read alot about PB's Black Hole and thought it might help fill a lot I will probably not be able to get and bought the PB's EX-P because it sounds like a good companion to the BH. I also have some Fuzion I would like to top everything with. I plan on wash and a good claying before hitting it with any pads. Does this sound like a good plan or do you think I might need something after the 205? I appreciate your help. Here is a pic of what most of the car looks like:

Try 205 and see what kind of finish it leaves. I would personally pick up some 3M Ultrafine, or Optimum Finish which works pretty similarly and is available in smaller quantities. But the only way to find out is to try 205 and see how it looks - it may finish just fine on your paint.

The paint doesn't look terrible - just a typical black car that's not been polished properly. All that is going to correct easily with M105.

Thank You, Since I am new to this I have a couple of practice cars I'm going to do first to get the hang of the machine and products I will be using. I appreciate all the help and support I've been getting in my learning process.

 let us know how it works out for you, and don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have!

amazing work and amazing car....

drop it on some nice coilovers and add larger sway bars and that car will handle like no one's business

Thanks! I'm kinda getting the itch to do some suspension mods....we'll see!

Beautiful S2k from a fellow honda nut :) Let me know when you get the itch for actually doing the suspension. I've gotten very big into suspension theory and optimization and can help you with any suspension question you may have!
