2006 PT Cruiser Detail & Headlight Restoration

OP, quick question.
Typically when i encounter headlights like those, i'd sand it.
However your process was just using a wool pad with DP headlight polish.
And that gave you such a good outcome at the end.

Does the wool pad provide such a major difference? Even able to clean up all that oxidization?

That's all I used. I was going to sand the driver's side to do a comparison but since I got such good results with the DP AIO and wool pad that I just used the same process.

I have never used a wool pad before, but after seeing the results you achieved with the pad and DP AIO.
I definitely need to try this combo. I perform headlight restoration as a side job, by using sand paper. And often times it takes quite a while, so i am looking for alternative way to do this for faster results. And also the 1000 and 3000 grit disc don't last very long too, expensive price wise. Not very cost effective.

I am assuming the wool pad is made by lake country?

Check out the link below, it will show you the the wool pad and backing plate I used for the drill.

Did you do anything about the clearcoat?

Not much you can do about clear coat failure except for repainting. I did apply some poli-seal, at least that should slow it down somewhat.

Special thanks

Special thanks to Chris aka Chris@autocleanse and Robert DiTerrlizzi aka Impressions for their advice, particularly with what to use on the roof. Great guys and always willing to help out.

I agree, Chris and Robert are great detailer, very good friends and a real asset to have here on Thursday nights when we tackle all the various detailing projects.

Special thanks to Mike Phillips for his articles on how to post on the forum. I have a new appreciation for the work he does on the forum. It takes a lot of time to create some good posts, editing and uploading pictures, etc.

:dblthumb2:

Thank you for the kind words Frank. And I appreciate your write-ups as they are so well written and the pictures are so very well framed up and best of all... inserted not attached.

To everyone reading this write-up into the future just a quick comment about Frank. He attends almost all over our Thursday night projects whether they be trashed cars or trashed boats and I can always count on him to tackle the hardest jobs and trust that the work will be top notch.

Thank you for all your hard work Frank, it's always a real pleasure working with you.

Here's a few pictures of Frank at some of our projects so in the future when you see a write-up from him you'll recognize him.

Looks great. I will have to try the Poli-Seal.

You must try the Poli- Seal, great protection and looks good on any color, afterwards I now top it using Collinite Aquawax for added shine and protection then lastly hit it with a mist of Duragloss 951 to get that slickness it offers.
As Bobby G said it's then bullet prove:)

When using the PS I apply it to the entire car, take a very short break and then buff it off, doesn't get any easier than that. :dblthumb2:

Easy to work with for sure.

:dblthumb2:excellent job frank! you finally got to try the optimum poli-seal. i told you it was a good one! that red looks super vibrant. poli-seal should last a while. amazing work on the tires, from the pictures i can tell they were caked up with dirt. thanks for posting and documenting the process :dblthumb2:

I much prefer detailing exteriors, but the interior came out very nice. My first time using DP Interior Cleaner and DP Carpet Cleaner. Worked Great !! Followed up with Optimum Leather Protectant on the vinyl, plastic, and leather.

More pics here.

I didn't detail the engine compartment. I guess that will be the next frontier for me.
