Hey everyone, just finished up another detail to show off :) . The day started off with temps around 40 and strong winds. This is a 2006 Scion TC that has been in 2 accidents- 1 on passenger fender, 1 on drivers side front fender. So the paint isn't the greatest. There were tons of drips, streaks, dust, bad clear coat, etc all over the car. The body shop did a terrible job, IMO. But the results are 100x better than it was before.

Process:
I did a quick wash with Megs Gold Class and Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner on the wheels. I did a quick detail on this a few months ago so claying wasn't needed. Interior-carpets got vacuumed and sprayed with folex, all rubber and vinyl got Meg's #40 and glass got Stoners IG. This car is like 75% glass, so there wasn't a lot of paint work even though 50% of it has been repainted. As you can see in the pics below, the clear coat on the passenger side fender was horrible. There was no shine on it at all. I decided I'd try wetsanding it and polishing it out to see what would happen. Well I polished it out with OHC, rotary and a green LC cutting pad and rotary white LC polishing pad. Then I did the whole car with Pinnacle XMT #2. This is a light polish but did a great job. A little goes a long way surprisingly. It left the paint squeeky clean. Then came the LSP. I wanted to try something new so I spit shined MEg's #26 using the PC. I sprayed a light mist of OCW onto the paint and then applied #26 with a finishing pad with the PC on 4. I worked the product in so it looked like normal #26. It applied easy and removed just as easily. The results are amazing... sorry for the length of the typing, here are the pics...

To say the least I am quite surprised with the OCW #26 spit shining using the PC. I hope you are too :p . Don't get on me about tire dressing ... look at my road, it's a mud hole. I didn't feel like wasting product just to get messed up on the drive back to the owners house. Questions, comments, suggestions?

came out really great! great job with the wet sand

Great job!! Looks slick, and reflective. Great job with the wet sand and polish. Brought back that shine to the fender!!

That is one great turnaround! I'd personally be afraid to wetsand any vehicle, but this is making it look way too easy!

What he said! :iagree:

What an amazing difference from the before to the afters. So is there no clearcoat now on that fender? You did an awesome job on making that shine.

Looks awesome!! Definitely one of the nicest TC's I have seen.

Ya it's still there but I had to cut through the bad part to get to the good stuff. Anybody know why it looked the way it did before? I think the body shop was lazy and decided not to wet sand and buff it out... leaving it for me to do :) . It was a good experience wet sanding and buffing out though. I am still in awe of the shine the OCW / #26 combo made ... the slickness was pretty darn good as well! Thanks for the replies.

Nice turn around budman..you did a great job...took big kuhunas to wet sand it as if the job was shody the shop may have skimped on CC ..but you made it look a lot better...great job....the flake is very defined now...better than the dull look...lol....

keep up the good work....

Good thing you're telling me this now ... I didn't think of it that way when I did it . I probably wouldn't have done it .... I was thinking that they applied BC / CC like they normally do and just didn't buff it out... I didn't get any paint transfer so I hope everything is good :p. Thanks

Great job, they are a neat little car.

And a superb job on the front pass. fender:righton:

Looks good Budman. :applause:

I've wet-sanded once, and I wasn't to fond of the whole process. It's dirty, and the fact that sand paper is on the paint... Enough said. :o I'd much rather use OHC on two passes or three, than to break out the sand paper..

Great job nonetheless. :awesome:

-Nick

Awesome job, love the pop. Wet sanding:eek: ! Bro, you have BALLS! :D

Holy Cow i've never seen a metalic pop soooo much. Awesome job...also props for the wet sanding...i'd be scared poopless to do that on my car.

Awesome job.:applause:

I don't know why everyone is scared of wetsanding. You are doing the same thing when polishing with a compund. Wetsanding is just quicker. I use it all the time to help remove deeper scratches.

Well since you guys like the flake pop so much here are 3 more pictures of the flake:

Who said I was new to this? :p:p I actually signed up with this forum when it first started but never posted here ... I spend most of my time over on DC. I have been detailing for about 3 years now... I think. I was quite surprised to see all of the activity on this site so I finally decided to join in. I think it is safe to say I am quite familiar with AG products  I just detail here and there for freinds and family. I love detailing and I love all of the products AG sells ... in the end it is a winning combination :applause: :righton: . As for the fender- polishing didn't do the trick last time I worked on the car and it was really bugging me so I figured wet sanding was the only option. It was a little risk but the results are definitely worth it.
Thanks for all of the kind replies.
