2006 Topless Mustang

Not true at all. On the contrary, I can wax a full sized truck by wiping a paste across a black pad. Thats it.

You use a gray pad and not a blue or red one? I didn't even plan on buying any gray pads lol...do I even need them? I see people using them for applying sealants or waxes...but my kit comes with two free red pads and I already planned on getting two blue ones...so are gray ones even needed?

I saw the waffle weave bogo and thought about picking it up, but I assumed the Shamrock would be better. It's easy to clean on the fly without a brush? In the PC kit I'm buying the XMT Pad Conditioner and Cleaner spray are included. The spray can be used to clean the pad on the fly? How would I remove caked on product? As far as extras go the pads I will have on hand this go around are 2 - 5.5" Orange Flat Pads(They come with the M105 & M205 Kit), 3 White 6.5" CCS Pads(One will not be used to polish, it will be only used under the MF Bonnet), 2 Blue 6.5" CCS Pads & 2 Flat Red Pads.

Are those BOGO waffle weaves good enough for drying?

I already picked up a microfiber mit from Autozone I planned on using, it's their brand. My soap is Armorall Ultra Shine Wash 'n Wax. Would you recommend scrapping those and getting something else? Price wise I know I'm not getting the Boar's Hair brush just yet lol. Are two MF Bonnets enough, would I need more of those as well? Also, I'm ordering 4 Shamrock MF Towels and I have one on hand I picked up from Autozone last week(b4 finding this site lol)

The shamrocks will be used to remove your polish and lsp. The waffle weave towels are for drying. Your washing stuff will work fine till you run out and then you can upgrade.

Another great thing about 105 and 205 that it cleans out a pad so easily. You can wash your pad, spin it on the pc to get all the excess water out of it and let dry till you need it again. If it is still slightly damp when needed while doing your car you will be fine.

Again I prefer to remove my wax by hand so that is were your microfiber towels come in.

You will be fine with the red pads to apply your lsp. If you are going to pick up any extra pads I would suggest your orange or white. The blue ones are used for your final polishing with the 205. Once you get all this stuff you will see when you need what pad to what type of job, that is the other fun part of doing this. trying to figure out what works with what.

Thanks Dana...I've added the BOGO waffle weave and removed the pad scrubbing brush. Should I add another set of Bogo Shamrocks? To recap I'll have 4 Shamrocks, 2 detailing MFs & 2 polishing MFs...and the one I picked up from Autozone last week.....depending on the answer I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on supplies...next week I'll buy the 7424XP Choose your own Pad Kit.

Thanks to everyone for all of the help! This forum is great :dblthumb2:

I would try and get as many microfibers you can get, you will never have too many. At last count I have over 400 microfibers and 45 waffle weave towels.

Yes, but don't you do this as a job/side-job? I'm not that hard core yet lol :buffing: ...but I will add another set of Shamrocks while it's BOGO...Thanks again for all of your help.

Nope, just as something to do from time to time. I was just being funny when I told you how many towels i had, just make a point also you can never have enough towels-lol.

Gotcha...I was was about to say...that's quite a bit of towels. I just ordered supplies...have to hold off a week for the polisher. At least I'll be able to address my drop top as soon as the stuff arrives.

If you are getting the XMT Pad Cleaner/Conditioner, ditch the Snappy Clean - the XMT cleaner is more than adequate on caked or just one pass pads. Instead of the brush (that you said you were removing) use a stiff bristle .99 cent toothbrush. That's what I use and it is fine.

2 microfiber polishing bonnets will do you fine. I can remove wax from a medium size SUV with one. The secret is working clean. Mike P. explains this concept well, but here's a go at it. While you have the bonnet on your PC, turn it on and scrape across the surface of the bonnet with your fingernails. It should go from looking full of wax/product to being loose microfiber again. The bonnet can be used for a loooong time that way without changing. Remember - the bonnets are reversible. When one side gets dirty, just turn it inside out.

If you don't have one, the only thing I would suggest is a Grit Guard. At the least wash using the 2BM (2 Bucket Method).

With your order, you will qualify for free shipping with AGO, which is usually the best discount. The others are 10% so you can do the math.

Thanks for the $$ saving tip..just before I was ready to click SUBMIT on my order lol. How would the spray work? Saturate the pad and drop it in the bucket? The Snappy cleaner is like the cheapest thing I'm buying...by saving $4 on that I would basically be getting the Grit Guard for half off. I'm picking up 3 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot this weekend so I can use 2BM. Is the grit guard all that helpful? The holes in the filter look too big to actually stop dirt/particles in the rinse bucket from rising, so I was going to skip it.

If you have questions about that and can not find your answer Meghan would be your go to and will take awesome care of you. She is more than helpful.

So far AGO is the best. I was just hoping to run across a 15% that was still being offered like FALL15 or MIKEPHILLIPS

The pad cleaner you just spray on and let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub it off with your brush (or fingernails) in some water (I usually do this under a running sink).

The Grit Guard isn't just about keeping the particles down, it gives you something to clean your wash mitt with. But, once you scrub off your mitt (in your rinse bucket) the particles being heavier will go to the bottom. The next time around since you will be doing the same thing, the water from the bottom won't be mixed up into your wash mitt, because you are staying above that water with the Grit Guard. Make sense?

Ok, Ok...I'm sold...it's only $10 so I aded it to the cart...glad I did, apparently there is a sale on WG products. I was able to upgrade from the WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant to the Deep Gloss Combo...This includes the Detail Spritz, a MF applicator and a Cobra Deluxe Jr. 600 Microfiber Towel for free!! Man, I'm starting to love this place :righton:

I was also told picking up a toothbrush to use with the spray also works well, that's why I removed the brush I planned on picking up.
