Hey Everyone,

Is it me or do car dealerships not car what thier vehicles look like when they TRY TO detail them? A new client of mine just bought this black 2007 Range Rover Sport from the onlly Range Rover, Jaguar & Volvo dealership down here. Client also knows the owers of the dealership well. He contact me on Thursday, after 1PM of course, asking me if I could detail the Range Rover he just bought. He just wanted it washed and waxed since he saw the work I did on a black Ford Cobra Convertable. He also told me time and time again that the vehicle was clean. Well, I took several things over to his warehouse where his parents live and work at (I was not sure what I was getting myself into). Well, when I took SOME of my items way out in the middle of no where, it then hit me who the client is. A good client with good money. :D Anyways, once I got there I looked at the Range Rover. MAN. Did the dealership mess it up. They compounded it and it looked like crap. I do not think the person knew what they were doing to it. I also advised him the RR was no where clean for me to detail it, which means I did not have any soap or buckets to wash it. Auto Zone run.

Here are some the items I used on it, since most all of my items are at their warehouse.

OXO Tire Brush
Menzerna Finishing Glaze PO 115C
Auto Magic Red Clay - I know I know
DP Detailing Lube Special
Flex with black pad
Poorboy's Medium Abrasive
Poorboy's Trim Restorer - Needed it BADLY
And a few other items.

I did not take my digi cam with he since he called at the very last minute, so, these pics are after I washed it, except the wheels:

Here are the OTHER vehicles my clinet wants me to detail or wash. I will work on the '09 F-350 4x4 Dully. That will get washed, clayed and buffed. I will also place some PB's rubber sealant on this one as I did with the Range Rover Sport. I will also have to polish each of the trucks rims.

Good thing I do not need to worry about THIS Range Rover. :D

These are some of the company trucks that I'm suppose to wash as well:

The rest are out and about.

They sure like their trucks!!

Sounds like a good client!

Great job on the Range Rover! Dealerships pay around $7/hr to whoever gets stuck with the detailing job. Some have guys who do OK, but I wouldn't gamble on those odds ;) I hope the client takes the receipt back to the dealer for a refund, although it sounds like it might not be worth the hassle for him. Oh well, I think we need to start calling these dealers out. Many just don't know enough to be able to see what they are causing. :(

Hey. If dealerships, or car wash places, did not mess up vehicles body work, then, we would not be in the business to correct the problems they caused. :righton:

:iagree: Very true!

I better take a few Monster drinks to that warehouse on Monday since it's F-350 4x4 Dully day. If I can get that truck done in one day, I will be shocked. I advised them to park it in the warehouse on Sunday so it will not be burning hot on Mondat morning. The temp will be in the 100's. as usual.

That's an 09 F-350? Why are the wheels so messed up? :goodpost:

You are right. The dealer just washed my wifes ML350 this week as a freebe for work be completed. You guessed it, I need to rewash and clean it the right way. Free is not always worth it.

Welcome to deep South Texas. LOL Many people with money down here never get rid of thier other vehicles OR, they just keep adding. I'm not sure what they use the F-350 for. I will find out on Monday when I go back and start on it. That one will just be a wash, clay and polish. I will also have to place some PB Rubber Sealand on all it's panels. Those rims, I will have to see what I have to try and polish them. I also have one of those mini buffing pads I could use on it with some DP wheel Glaze. This will be my 1st time messing around with rims like that. If you have a better idea, please let me know. Feed back please

Well, I do not have an honest answer for you. He contacted me after 1pm on thursday. Worked on it till 6pm. I did not have all my items with me to complete the job. I washed it "some", clayed it and started to do a final polish on it. I did the whole driver side, rear trunk/hatch, driver side hood & front bumper and two of the rear passenger side panels on Thursday. Also put the rubber trim on and blue tape on it before I started the polishing.

On Friday, polished the remainder of the vehicle, including the roof, and washed the 4 tires. Tires still did not come out the way I wanted. The Friday project took me about 3 hours to do.

The RR looks great. Nice client you picked up. Should keep you busy for a while.

haha the vehicles are exactly as i imagined. good luck!

Hey now. :D They will not be that hard. Even with the temp over 100 deg outside, working in the warehouse is perfect. Nice breeze and everything. Only issue is, there are no lights that are near the vehicles inside. I always will not have the keys to the vehicles to move then inside and out.

btw - I advised him that the black Range Rover needed to be compounded and then polished to get all the marks off the paint since he was in a hurry to get the vehicle wash and waxed. He wants his Range Rover to shin like this vehicle:

Good thing I did not drive out to the warehouse this morning. The battery was dead on the F-350. I also advised them to, somewhat, park it in the warehouse so I could wash it 1st thing in the morning before the sun cooks that darn truck.
