So, I finally got around to hitting my Z with the some paint correction to get rid of 2 1/2 years of swirls and reduce some of the RIDS plus seal it. So here's what I spent last weekend on.

Prep:
Wash with Pinnacle BWS + Dawn
Mother's Gold clay with ONR clay lube ratio

Buffer used: PC 7424 (old, not an XP) with LC CCS pads in 5 1/2 x 7/8" for all product applications.

Polish:
After multiple test spots with Wolfgang FG + gray and white pads, I jumped up to the Wolfgang TSR with the white pad for the entire car (I anticipate using FG with white or gray in the future now)

Seal:
WG DGPS with blue pad

Wax:
2 coats of Pinnacle SS II with gray pad

Best attempt at capturing swirls/RIDS on light silver paint:

Taped off for polishing:

Wolfgang DGPS after application and after buff off:

After SS II pulled out into the sun:

Previous to this the car was shiny, now it's extra shiny/glossy and walking out from work today I really noticed it in the sun as I walked up to it. With removing the fine scratches and reducing the RIDS along with the general polishing and the DGPS + wax it just took it to the next level. :props:

p.s. note that the white spots in the last two pics are NOT paint defects. They are sun reflections off various items on the street/houses.

Excellent work!! I sympathize about taking pictures...my car is dark grey and I can't pick up swirls/scratches in pics no matter how hard I try.

did you wait for the WGDGPS to cure (8-12 hrs) before topping it with SSII?

Wow looks great! I'm all new to this, but I'm leaning towards going WG now forsure.

Oh yeah, that's why I started Friday and finished Sunday :). I did wash, clay, tape on Friday after work. Saturday was polish and seal. Then finally the SSII on Sunday afternoon. It probably actually had about 16 hours of cure time before I got back out there.

I always thought your Z looked great...now it looks spectacular! Wet doesn't describe its appearance now...:props:

Thanks all. As always I learned a lot more about using my products. I think next time I'll be able to work even smarter by knowing more what I'm doing and hopefully being able to shave some time off the job. Saturday was kinda rough. I spent about 45 minutes doing test spots and pulling into the sun to inspect (really hard on a silver car).

The the actual polish, tape removal & cleanup, and seal took probably about 8 hours plus breaks. Partly that was because it was so hot.......upper 90's in the sun and no breeze through the garage. So it was not just hard on me from the heat, but I had to resort to misting my polishing pad with water during the TSR phase so I could actually use it before it dried up and turned into little balls of TSR all over the place.

Oh, and I just thought of a way to describe the difference in shine and gloss in the paint before I did this and then afterwords. Other than being able to see those fine scratches and such if you looked at it with the right angle in the sun, the shine and reflections always looked pretty good but I always thought I was seeing a slight cloudiness or haze or just that surroundings weren't as clearly reflected as they should have been. Turns out I was right, the difference is like that Claritin allergy medicine commercial where everything looks ok, then at the end they remove the light gray "effect" from the picture and everything is suddenly sharper/etc.

Great work, I love to see other people take the time to properly tape off edges and trim. I'm sure it made clean up a lot easier! :)

Nice job! Definetely taken that silver to the next level! It's like watching your favorite DVD movie on a 26" analog tv (before), and then watching your fav again in Blue Ray on a 60" LED tv (after)!
Mine's Ironman #1. LOL!
