Most Nissan paint are very soft and coeerct fairly easily. I would try a compound with a good cutting pad B4 I even attempted wetsanding. You may be suprised.......

I agree, I would try the orange pad with the M105 first. Should get a lot of that out without having to wet sand. Getting the bulk out isn't going to be the problem, it is fine tuning it that is the hard part, for me anyways. I have an 05 Black Xterra. The swirls/scratches are easy to get rid of, its the micro marring that I am having a hard time with. These Nissan Black paints scratch if you look at them wrong.

+1 on the not wet sanding. Usually you'll only have to wet sand on some orange peel or some isolated RIDS. Go with the Orange pad and 105. Then use a white pad with 205. If you don't have a white pad, use the grey (black) pad.

And keep us updated on the process. Or at least me please, as I would like to know if the 205 on a black pad finishes it well on that Nissan paint.

Another update requested, if you would please........ :xyxthumbs:

I detailed the exact same car, in black, over the summer. The owner didn't want to pay for a full correction, so I went with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. The Nissan paint was pretty soft and I was able to achieve very nice results. I went over a few spots twice, but overall the UC did the job. It won't take out the deep scratches you show on the trunk (I'd probably wetsand those), but all the swirling and minor defects will be removed easily.

Wow. The UC did make a difference.

I've had pretty good results using UC on a mildly swirled BMW with hard paint too. Glad it worked for you.
On another note, I wonder how many of us got into the detailing obsessation as a result of owning a black car?

im going to try out uc, with orange pad what speed setting would be best to use via pc

so far coming out good had to wet sand a couple few patches will throw up some pics soon

alright heres the update im not 100% satisfied with the outcome ive only just done one side, the hood doesnt seem to look too great compared to the doors???

It's hard to see the photos clearly but it looks as if the results are 100 times better.

Thanks for the update.
Considering with what it looked like before, the results are much better. :xyxthumbs:

:iagree:
Just a tip - when posting links to pictures, if you will use the "img" tags, you will have pictures and not links in your post. The "img" tags are
which goes at the end.

So it will look like this (this one includes the URL tags as well so you can see what I am talking about.
URL]

And then without the URL tags, it turns into this:

You can also host the pictures here on your Autogeek Gallery and won't have to worry about them ever going anywhere. Mike P. has a right up on that somewhere.
