2008 Corvette and its new engine!

Lauren,
Don't fret..there will always be one-upamanship or else how do the manufacturers keep the buzz about their product? There's a new limited run Mustang with well over 500 hp...you gotta know the general's gonna have an answer to that too!!

yah, i know. i am puting money aide for the c-7's!
just did not expect it sooo soon!!

Oh yah I read about that with the Shelby snakes too....same magazine.

why not hold out for the new corvette with the performance package above the zo6's I forget what its called the blue devil or something like that.....

yes, for 2008-09 there are now three offerings in engines on the Vette.

LS3 --- approx 420 cubes at 430hp
LS7 --- approx 427 cubes at 505hp
LS? --- approx 427 cubes at 700hp (supercharged/intercooled)

What I would offer you Lauren, is some exhaust changes, and air box change, and some tuning and you'll be pumping out what the LS3 offers. Or just supercharger it and move to Z06 levels.

It has the new LS3 with 430hp!!
Yeah, it's one of those things that every year or so one or another manufacturer makes even a better/faster/more powerfull car...

guess the ls3 is gm's answer to to the srt-8 ?

i really need to brush up on my new gm stuff....ive been burried trying to decide what to put in my 78 :D

Why worry about the LS3? For half the diffrence of the dealer mark ups on the 07, you can make the LS2 in your vett walk all over any stock or mildly modified LS3 corvette. The C6's just came out, so we shouldn't see C7's for awhile, so why not make the next couple of years a little more fun.....

The problem with the Srt-8 ... it only goes into all the fat cars. Everything GM offers the LS's in will outrun its diamond star counterpart. The new LS3 was supposedly designed as an enhancement to the LS2 with the new (and cheaper) heads and block bored a bit to enhance extra air intake.

A LS3 equipped Camaro versus the Srt-8 Hemi Challenger should be interesting. With the weight ratios, the Camaro should slightly walk it in the quarter. Now it comes down to gearing !

Don't be a wuss.....head/cam your LS2 and go walk all over the LS3:D...Scott said he'll pay to send your car to LGM.

Too bad she's out in Cali and can't have long tube headers, so she can't take full advantage of a sick H/C combo. She could slap a magnacharger, put 7lbs of boost through it, a big stall, some drag radials and rattle off a high 11 quarter. Got to love a light, big stall auto...

The LS2's break high 12's on stock tires as is ...adding a Maggie would put high 11's down, and those slicks and stall would likely firmly plant her in the mid 11.60's provided she gets some serious traction before middle track. Vette is nice and light, and I am sure Lauren couldnt add much to it.

I did a TC from Yank on my past Vette ... some repurcussions. First, its loud. Car gets moving into higher revs quicker. Second, traction. I could obliderate a set of tires just by stomping on the throttle. I highly suggest looking at Yanks new cheater tc's , slightly larger stalls much tighter and bigger torque multiplication and in stock casing so dealer will not likely catch the upgrade and decline warranty easily. Other than Nitrious, its one of the best bang for the buck upgrades. Add a little gearing while in there also, since you need to drop the entire rear to do the changes.

They will be using the LS3 for the new "SS" Vette. The LS7 won't like all that supercharging much with it's bored to hell cylinder walls. An LS3 would also be more like 378 CI, not 420. 420 CI is basically 7 liters(LS7), so I don't imagine the new SS vette being more than 400 CI either(if that). ;)

That and the LS7 is probably going to go the way of the LS2 and be retired. LS7's just cost to much money to be put into any sort of high number production automobiles because of the engines being hand built.

I am sure my number estimations are off a little, I am used to these big fat GTOs:D .

Maybe the next z06 they will just rename it the LS8, and add some new bits here and there. :D Rumor is they will call the SC'ed LS3 the LS9 as well. I swear they are going to run out of numbers soon! LS13 doesn't have a very nice ring to it.

Yah I am going to PM you about that cause I know I won't be able to get the money together to keep the low payment I got now on a new one. Besides, I do plan to keep this one a while. Thank you - you are soooo right. Just don't wanna void the warranty.
Luv,
Lauren
How is the newest addition??
