This is my Father's 2008 GMC Sierra. He is a GM Accessories salesman and is on the road A LOT! He went out fishing today, so I decided I would detail his car up for him for Father's Day. This thing has seen a lot of Florida at 125,xxx miles. He drives all over the state. We have only waxed it probably 3 or 4 times. Due to it being such a big project, I have put it off for a while. And I just happened to choose a wonderfully hot day in Florida to do it as well. This thing was full of swirls. He really only has it washed at one quick wash place where it goes through the machine and they hand dry it. So many swirls were probably from that place. I have lots of pics for this one so enjoy!

I used just an OTC wash, and just used that for the wheels too (in a separate bucket of course), I used bugs b gone on the front due to some left over love bugs, Once I got it into the garage, I used Meguiars Ultimate compound and man does that stuff work wonders. This wasn't intended to be a full correction, just a slight correction and a good coat of wax. But this stuff really got rid of a lot of the swirls and defects on the paint. I also clayed the whole car before with just the meguiars clay kit. After going over the whole car with UC, i applied a coat of wax on the Chrome wheels and they turned out great. After the UC and waxing the wheels, I applied a coat of Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba wax. Nothing special, but it made the paint POP and that's what I wanted. I applied the Ultimate compound with a LC CCS Orange pad, which worked great. And I applied the wax with a LC CCS Blue finishing pad.

So now on to the Pics:
Before:
Interior

He has never touched the dash with anything since he bought it. They told him at the dealer when he bought it that it was a metal dash and not to put anything on it. I told him they were crazy and you always put something on it, and you will see that it is peeling due to no protection at all.

Engine before:
The engine has never been cleaned or anything, so 125k miles of dirt and grime.

Outside Before:

Cracks in the Toneau cover...:( I completely stayed away from them so I didn't get any wax in the cracks and have it dry out.

AFTERS!
Engine After:

Dash 50/50

22's!

Dad taking it away!

My Silverado did the same thing-paint/coating peeling from the dash. I think it's more a quality issue.

Wonder bread shirt. lol I seen worse inside of a vehicle, but it's still a improvement from what it did look like. At least now the truck looks brand new in and out. You just made the trade in value worth more. :xyxthumbs:

Nice Father's Day Gift and a really Great Job!!!:props: That's a nice size chunk of work on a hot day in Florida!! Great turn-around on the outside too!!! I'm sure your Dad appreciated it.

great job. you sure chose a hot ass day to work on the truck. how did your dad like it?

He thanked me probably 7 times at the house then called three more times after he left. He was thrilled!

Great Job!!!!! Looks like a whole new truck! Great son too! I wish my son would detail my cars... lol... He is 12 but is slowly learning to detail... haven't gotten a DA in his hands yet but I may soon...

Wow what a nice truck! Bet he gets a lot of free/discounted stuff through GM being an accessories salesmen. Nice. Our 08 Silverado only has 43k. I cant imagine 125k already!

Ya he drives a lot. The truck hasn't given him many problems other than the 3 transmissions and a rear end that he has gone through. but yea every accessory on the truck that you see came from where both he and I work. It comes with it's perks. :)
