2008 Honda Element SC Sale Readiness Detail

Former co-worker saw my work on Facebook and asked me to work on his wife’s Honda Element. When I got there, I learned his wife just bought a new Mini Cooper and was begrudgingly selling her Honda Element.

It was DIRTY outside and the interior had tremendous dog hair and dog odor.

The exterior had LOTS of defects, many quite deep. You can’t tell it from the pics though. I intended to just use XMT 360, but I ended up using Wolfgang Uber Compound on the roof, hood, and front clip as well as a few other areas. It was brutal as I was working in the sun and it was nearly 100F that day.

The rest of the areas got hit with XMT 360.

The wheels were caked with brake dust. I spent a LONG while on the wheels and tires and still didn’t get them to where I wanted them.

Lesson learned: Take bug spray to every job! As I was hosing the car off, I felt something on my leg. I looked down and I was COVERED in ants! They were more than a bit upset about me drowning their home, I suppose. They were ALL over the hose and some of my bottles too. All I could do was spray them (and my leg) down in APC. They were on and in my sneakers too.

I spent the next 10min in an outright war with the ants. I won, barely. The next few days and for a couple WEEKS afterwards, my leg had itchy sore red spots.

Now I inspect the work area for ant hills, and other nests, etc…and take a high concentration of DEET spray with me.

Back to the detail…

The owners were very impressed. I received lots of compliments.

The most important thing…they used my after pics on Craigslist and sold the vehicle within ONE day!

Very nicely done. She will indeed miss the dependability of the Honda in a very short time with the Mini.

These Element's are making for some fantastic before and after shots! Great work.

One question, what camera are you shooting with and what lens for the interior?

Thanks, guys.

Camera- a 10yr old Canon Powershot S60 on Auto setting!

When I upgrade (which will be soon) I'll probably get the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ70.

At one time I had a full Canon EOS dual camera set up with L lenses 17-35mm, 50mm 1.4 and 70-200mm

The little powershot does a very good job. The screen is too small and it's hard to see in bright light. I just trust the framing in decent half the time.
