2008 Subaru WRX detail

Wow I cant believe how trashed the inside of the hood scoop was! You did an excellent job. Out of curiosity, do you how much your friend washed their car?

Great work, especially with the scoop. What happened to that thing?!... looked like some sanded it.
I haven't tried 205 so I don't know the exact results you can achieve with a Hydrotech Tangerine pad, but with MenzSuper Finish 106FA(SF 4000) it corrects as well as 205 did for you but finishes glossier. I think Subaru is painting the new Camaros because that's the combo that worked well for me on a swirled out black SS.
I can only see good things to come from you my friend! :)

Nice i got Menz SF4000 the week after this detail lol. I was originally gonna use the wolfgang duo, but i only had 8oz bottles and after doing my friends Fit and my car i didnt have much left so i picked up 205 at my local pepboys. Price wasnt great but at least they threw in a free bucket haha.

Did you use M205 on the headlight lenses also? Looks awesome!

I think i might have used Menz FG-400 on the GG3" with GG orange pad.

Yeah, something is not right with the clear on the scoop and "wing". At least that is cheap and easy compared to painting the whole hood or roof. I think you will be pleased with menz sf4000. I might have miss spoke with the gloss comparison but either way they are very comparable, and you can't go wrong having both in your arsenal. Another combo I just tried that works great on soft paint is menz SIP and hydrotech crimson pad. You can start off with God down pressure and 6 setting on the PC and reduce speed and pressure to have a really glossy finish and heat correction. Sure you be trying out several combos with all the work you will be scheduling. Have you tried FG400 with microfiber yet? That and OPT hyper compound are my go-to combos for heavy correction with my rotary. I have found with the DA it can leave tick marks. But on a rotary it can leave most paint, for most customers, LSP ready.
Thanks again for sharing and replying to us all.:)

Ive already used SIP & SF4000 on a Mercedes G-Wagon, both great products :)
Right now im debating if i should get PF2500, will it finish alot better than SIP? Looking for some good one step polishes for different paint systems as right now i might start working out of my friends shop but i have limited time there :( which is my problem right now...have unlimited time working from home but im limited on space. So taking on cars bigger than this will be an issue.

Haven't bought any MF pads yet but looking forward to trying that and D300 in the future.

I haven't tried PF2500 but on paper looks like you might gain some gloss but sacrifice some cut. I think I would stick with SIP for its versatility and knowing how it performs already. Maybe someone can get you a sample of PF2500.;)
If you only have the GG DAs I think I would go with Meg's system and try the Menz products you have with Meg's pads. Otherwise, if you get into using a rotary, especially for spot/edge work, I would get OPT smaller MF cutting pads to use with FG400; can't say enough good things about that combo.

I think for one step correction I would definitely stick with SIP since using it with a DA will allow you to adjust your pad to get the cut/finish you are looking for. For a client get a one step they may be less concerned about the gloss you know can be achieved and more.concerned with the defect removal, which is what I am usually more concerned with. You can always do a quick polish step to bring out gloss which is quicker than having to do two rounds with a lesser cut polish for defect removal, only to have the same if not less gloss. Like I said, try a sample if you can before spending $30+ on a whole bottle. Do a 50/50 on some dark paint to make up your mind.

:xyxthumbs: thanks for the info, yea ill wait it out and practice more with what i have for now...well also cause im broke lol. So far FG-400 has been really great on most of the paints ive worked with, and have been able to pull off LSP ready results with a 1-2 complete passes.

U ate through the clear because you went too aggressive or because it was already severely damaged?

Maybe he should Plasti Dip that thing at this point

it was already severly damaged, his plan is to wrap it. subaru's soft paint plus it being on plastic does not last very well against the elements when not protected.
