Hi all,

Picked up a 2009 Suzuki SV650S a month or so ago and today was the day that it got a detail! I was lucky enough to find the bike locally. It's a 2009 with 4200 miles on it and has never been dropped or wrecked.

The paint was in fairly good shape because of the low miles but it definitely had some swirls, scratches, sticker residue and oxidation.

Before pics:
Some slight swirls and such

Started off with a foam bath with CG Honeydew

I was unable to get many pictures of the actual detailing process but I did the following:
-Removed front fender to gain access to the whole panel
-Clayed the bike with Nanoskin Fine Pad and Nanoskin Glide
-Compounded the bike with Menzerna FG400 and an orange LC hybrid pad. Only had to do a few passes since it wasn't bad but there were some spots that needed more than a polish could handle
-Polished with Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish and LC white hybrid pad
-Wiped the bike down with Wolfgang Perfekt Paint Prep
-Coated with Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating
-Polished exhaust up with CG metal polish

Went over the plastic windscreen briefly. It was pretty trashed and I only did the outside so swirls were still present on the inside of it.

Next project is to take the wheels off and brake rotors off and clean and coat the wheels. However, that will be a project for another weekend!

Thanks for looking!

Nice job Hokie. Those are great little track bikes

Thanks! I am enjoying it so far and have heard they have great track potential with some minor suspension upgrades. Maybe in the future it will see some track time

I bought a SV650 new in 2004. Loved the bike and enjoyed cruising. Decided not to ride after reading too many articles about fatal MC crashes. Sold the bike in 2006 and have been on one MC since. Took my BIL's bike around the block.

I haven't ever regretted selling MC. Too many distracted drivers out there.

Be careful and always wear helmet, leather, and gloves.

My SV was the same color. Yours looks great.

Very nice! Looks so much better now. Please be careful!

Thanks, I try to be as careful as possible. Took the MSF course earlier this year.

Thank you, I love the bike so far! Apparently the black frame with the blue paint and white stripes in an S version is quite rare so I lucked out as I found it locally. I always wear gear all the time! Boots, jacket, gloves, helmet, etc. as I know all too well about the distracted drivers. My favorite car I ever owned (2007 BMW 335i, very modified) was rear ended by a texting driver at 50mph while I was sitting still on the highway. Ride as if you're invisible is a motto I take very seriously.
