This is the same customer who owns the 2009 Z06 I posted last week. This is his beater .

Since it's a lease, he didn't want to go crazy with 2 or 3 step paint correction. He opted for a one step polish, so I was looking for something a bit stronger than M205, but not as strong as M105. Meguiar's D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream via Lake Country Tangerine Hydro-Techs seemed like the perfect combo. I was also testing out a Hydro-Tech with the black CCS backing. It's the third time I've used the pad and have not had a single issue with it.

I didn't expect D151 to correct as well as it did, but it removed all the swirls and left a VERY nice finish, even after an IPA wipedown. Might I also add I've been testing out a new "prototype" sealant for Max and the results have been nothing short of impressive thus far. We've been seeing durability in the 6-8 month range and looks are impressive. It does not offer the carnauba warmth of Wolfgang, but does add a nice pop to the paint and looks very wet.

Before we get on with the detail, here are some of the vehicles in the "collection" in their warehouse that I will be working on soon. :hungry:

This part of the hood had the most swirls, as the sun showed before.

Nice work on that Jag.
:applause:

When do we get to hear more about the mystery sealant?

Thanks! As for the sealant, once we get a few things figured out, we will have samples available for you guys. I don't want to hype it up too much; I'll let the product do the talking. ;)

Nice! :props:

Does D151 contain wax? Also, what product would you compare D151 to in terms of cut?

Yes, it does contain wax. However, Top Inspection removed whatever wax was in it before I applied my sealant.

I'd say it's "middle of the road" in terms of cut, speaking in terms of M105 and M205.

Matt..for a single stepper, that did a great job. The sealant did a good job making the metallic pop as well.

I find that Top Inspection requires less "applications" than IPA. As you may know, sometimes 2-3 applications of IPA are needed to fully remove fillers. Top Inspection makes it a bit easier, and I LOVE using it for my "post-correction" wash. I'll typically wash the car, rinse it, spray Top Inspection in every crack/emblem that may contain polish residue. Makes residue and dust removal a breeze. :xyxthumbs:

Wishing I had a beater like that! Nice detail, like to see that flake pop in the paint!

No, like I said it was just a pad I'm testing. :)

I will say I haven't had a single issue with it, and no signs of separation. But, I also used 6 OTHER Tangerine Hydro-Techs on this detail AND the Camaro detail I just posted, all without issue.

Nice job. Can't wait to hear more about the mystery sealant.

Now I want to try out D151.

Really nice work there!

Quick question... I'm trying to figure out with which product in the Menzerna line I could compare the D151 ?
I always tought that you always add to use another product to give back more shine to the paint after a polish.

When I think of one step and Menzerna, PO203 Power Finish is the product that comes to mind. :xyxthumbs:

Great, thanks.
So correct me if I'm wrong....A one step polish will remove light swirls and at the same time, give back shine to the paint ? It's like a glaze without the "cut" power ?

Great, thanks.

A one step polish can be a few different things. On some softer paints, a finishing polish can be used like a one step polish. On hard paints, a compound like M105 can finish down nice enough to be a one step.

It's all subjective terminology and depends on what you're working with / what you're trying to do.

A one step polish is basically something with light-medium cut that finishes nice enough to go straight to an LSP.
