This customer had a limited budget to spend on this car to make it shiny again. He had it for a while and deciced that is was time to sell and buy something else.

Inspecting the paintwork under sun light, it was clear that this car has been polished before...it was covered in swirls...lots of them.

First thing I did was to inspect it, to check the overall condition of the car and start making a game plan.

Cleaning the interior first

Rubber mats cleaned using a strong APC mix to break the dirt and remove most of the stains. Used a stiff scrub brush on my rotary to help on this process.

Carpets were cleaned with a solution of carpet cleaner and some elbow grease. Areas with heavy dirt were scrubbed via rotary and velcro brush.

Washing and drying

Using a foam gun, car was soaked and left the shampoo to dwell and break the dirt. Cracks and crevices were cleaned with a soft brush. Car was then foamed again and cleaned using Megs microfiber mitt.

Paint inspection under sun light

Considering BMW's paint hardness, it was clear that the person who polished this car before did the most agrressive polishing job.

Polishing

The owner wanted this car to shine again but his budget was limited do a complete exterior detail was not possible. Had to be quick but deliver a nice shine as well. Decided that working with a rotary was by best option for this car. Used SONAX perfect finish with Megs yellow pad. A good combo...removed lots of the defects leaving nice reflections.

Very nice results on White!

Love the interior turnaround.

its funny how somebody spends 70 grand on a car and has a limited budget. I never understood that.

Excellent turnaround those leather seats sure need that TLC you gave it

It looks really good. If I was in the market for an X6 this would catch my eye for sure

Love the interior turnaround.

I concur with both of these chaps. Loved the interior turnaround. You buy a car like that, #1 you should realize that in order to protect your car from depreciating badly, you need to maintain its paint and appearance. On a car like that, it can literally make thousands of dollars difference come time to sell or trade. Lovely job on tightwad's car!!

Nice turnaround! :props: Few questions:

(1) What products/process did you use on the glass, wheels, and tires?

(2) Did you clay or decontaminate the car at all?

(3) What did you use for an LSP?

Sonax Perfect Finish has been a go to for me for a while now. I love that stuff, seems that is can be manipulated in so many ways with just pad choice.

HUMP

As always, perfect work. The car looked so thrashed, and now it looks brand new!

No doubt this car increased a lot (and I mean a LOT) in re-sale value. This customer should love you for life.

The interior cleaning you made goes way beyond any customer expectation, and also the paint looks gorgeous.

Now a correction for posters: Who said $70K? This car in Brazil today (2010 version) goes for near $100K, used, in that condition. Yuk!

Both detailer (and I suppose customer) are brazilians, so that's the value of the car in reality.

Great work Vinharski,

Thanks for sharing.

Kind Regards.

Perhaps they were able to afford a 70k car because they spent their money wisely?

And paying someone a ton of money to needlessly thin out their clearcoat on a daily driver...is hardly a good use of money.

reminds me of a message i got today. I have a new C300 looking to get detailed, quoted him a AIO one step with vacuum, leather clean and wipe down inside for $150 and he said that was too much.

Thanks for the kind feedbacks guys.

This car, considering the US to Brazilian currency ratio, is way very expensive, more than USD 70k. As Tato said, it worthes USD 100K - preowned.

Seems that people get used to cheapo "detailing" and once we quote good quality services with proper equipment and care, they think is too much. I always explain them that proper detailing will add value on the long term as well (preserving clear coat, etc, etc, etc).

Thanks Taurus731

Answering your questions:
(1) APC only...the owner asked me to not give too much attention to the wheels because they were being refurbished...those on the car are from a BMX X5

(2) Did not do any decontamination...decided to save as much as I could, giving the best shine possible on the budget set by the owner.

(3) LSP was SONAX Hard Wax...good stuff by the way

True, that's a 100K car in brazilian market...hope the owner did a good deal on that.
