2011 Camaro - Modeled by Amy

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

I would think it will be easier for out of town people to go to events like this if it was held on a Friday or Saturday.

I agree...

I have Sam Camancho bringing us his very cool 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 to freshen-up and then we're going to apply the CarPro Cquartz Ceramic Quartz Paint Protection.

I talked to Sam today and he says the paint has a few swirls and scratches since the time I buffed it out so we're hoping the Cquartz will be a good match for the soft paint on his Porsche and his busy lifestyle...

***Bump***

Rene will have his 2011 Red Jewel Tint Camaro here tomorrow starting at 5:00pm. If you want to learn how to remove swirls using a Flex 3401 or a DA Polisher than you're welcome to join in the fun.

Red jewel tint coat is an amazing color... But then again I haven't seen a 5th gen camaro look bad in any color.

White is still my favorite, but it wasn't out when I ordered mine. :props: P.S. Have you visited C5 lately? The A-Zombies have gone overboard. All of us in our right mind have lost control of the boards completely and get ran out of threads that don't mention the A word. And one the the A representatives treated me like a dumb-A. Let's just say I won't be buying from them again anytime soon. I didn't use much from them anyways.

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

I hang out in the bolt on tunes section... No more in the A section. I love AG and Autopia forums.

The Camaro is here and we're starting the detail project right now!

Behind the car is Rene and in the back of the car is Robert DiTerlizzi from Impressions Detailing.

Finished the Camaro project, I'll post some picture from my Canon to this thread tomorrow... there's quite a few pictures posted to the Facebook page for now.

Thank you to Rene for bring us his car. Thank you to Robert from Impressions Detailing and Todd Helme for helping out with the machine compounding and polishing. Thank you to Bob for helping out with all the detail work and thank you to Amy for stopping by for a few pictures with Rene's Camaro.

Time to shut down Autogeek's Show Car Garage for the night...

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

Thanks Mike, Todd, Rich, Bob & Amy for having my car in your capable hands. Needless to say, the car looks absolutely wet! Awesome Job! Autogeeks Rock!:dblthumb2:

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

Here's a few pictures from last night's project... the first few are from my iPhone as these were posted to my Facebook page and we buffed out the car...

All work done using Blackfire products...
2011RJTCamaro033.jpg

Robert and Rene wipe the car clean using DP Waterless Auto Wash
2011RJTCamaro006.jpg

Rene using Blackfire Clay and Blackfire Clay Lubricant to clay the paint...
2011RJTCamaro006a.jpg

Here's Robert preparing to prime his pad using Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Compound
2011RJTCamaro007.jpg

Robert does a Test Spot on the hood to dial-in the process the rest of us will duplicate over the rest of the car. For this he's using the Flex 3401 with a Cyan Hydro-Tech Cutting Pad and the Blackfire Scratch Resistant Compound. This combination of products on the 5.0 Speed Setting removed all but the deepest RIDS
2011RJTCamaro008.jpg

Here you can see the tint in the tinted clear coming off the car as we compound it and onto the face of the pad. This is nothing to worry about, keep in mind when you're doing any correction work on a clearcoat paint system you too are removing paint that is building up on the face of your buffing pad but because the paint is clear you won't see it build-up on the face of your pad.

See this article,
Why it's important to clean your pads often...

That's me compounding the lower rear quarter panel, if it has paint it gets polished...

Working the Flex around the Camaro Script...
2011RJTCamaro012.jpg

Robert tackling the hood...

If you're in the Palm Stuart area, Robert owns Impressions Fine Automotive Detailing and is a top notch professional and you'll get nothing but complete satisfaction from his work.

Todd Helme gets ready to start on the passenger side...

Teamwork...

At this point we're machine polishing the paint using the Flex 3401 with Crimson Hydro-Tech Finishing Pads and Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish.

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

it was a real pleasure to work on such a beautiful car, thanks Rene. As always, working with Mike Phillips is awesome and getting to meet Todd Helms was to say the least an interesting experience, what a guy! Bob it was my pleasure to meet you as well. What a great team, roughly 4 hours start to finish, wash, clay, compound, polish and seal.........like little soldier ants...haha!! Our "super model" Amy was great to work with, she's a real ham in front of the lens, it helps that she's real easy on the eyes! I'm looking forward to more great thursday nights at Autogeek Garage.

btw.........the Blackfire products were awesome to work with as well....looks like I've got more products for my wish list.

Re: Autogeek's Car of the Week - 2011 Camaro - Thursday, September 8th

Before leaving for the day, Meghan dropped off some of our new Super Soft Deluxe Green Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edges so I asked my friend Amy to come by and help remove the wax...

2011RJTCamaro019.jpg

These new microfiber towels are thick and plush and perfect for wiping off any wax or paint sealant... Here Amy's using the technique I wrote about in this article,

Removing a little polish splatter from the windshield using a microfiber towel...
2011RJTCamaro028.jpg

All work, including compounding, polishing and machine waxing was done using the Flex 3401 with Hydro-Tech pads by Lake Country.

The paint came our looking really wet and glossy...

Fabulous job on the Camaro gang! Amy's heels match that new floor beautifully. We hope to see more of Amy in future threads. It looks like everyone had a fabulous time. I have to get down there one of these nights. My wife's new Acura ZDX can use a good goin' over.
