Seems like this coating is holding up well! However I have heard rumors that it comes off the most gentle APC's...is this true?

Definitely not true. If that happened to someone it is probably because they did not prep the surface properly before application. It withstands bird droppings. Bird droppings actually will wash off in the rain so an APC wouldn't be able to do anything it.
