2011 Vermillion Red BMW 335i Cabriolet

I'm super digging that color.

I suspect my VW has a bit of the "infamous BMW orange peel" that you're talking about Tony. Have you noticed this on any of the new VW golf/gti's? I guess that's assuming that you've done a few of them.

I've worked on a few VW Tourage vehicles & haven't noticed there being anything significant ........... seems that Mercedes, Audi, VW and Porsche have a different/better process for painting that prevents the orange peel to BMW's extent.

Wet sanding ............ now there's an option! :xyxthumbs:

Sweet that car looks great. Yeah I'm pretty sure all forums count guest who click on threads. If you have even been linked to another forum were some one did something incredibly stupid and it goes viral. There are like 3 to 5 pages of about 50 members laughing at said member and yet 1000 views from guest who were linked to it to have a good laugh.

Thanks!

I think I'll start posting some of the more difficult/involved detailing jobs here ........ I appreciate all the feedback guys. :dblthumb2:

Wonder if I can drum up a pic on my car. It's new and I'm no experienced damp sander, I couldn't bring myself to touch the finish with sand paper

Getting over the initial shock of "what am I doing to me car" is the biggest part ........ finding the courage to start is another ........... after that you're good to go.

I once sanded the clear coat off of a Crimson Red BMW 635csi because the clear coat had begun to fail. It took me the better part of a week & was my first wet sand project. Wish I had pictures from back then as the car was absolutely SICK when it was finished. Ferrari red had nothing on the BMW finish .........

Beautiful car and awesome work. Isn't it amazing how a greet detail can make a new car so much better?

It really is ......... the owner's wife was taking pictures with her phone to send to her husband. She couldn't get over the difference. Customers for life!

151 views and just 2 comments ........ no wonder I don't post my work here. lol

I'm sure it looks great, but I can not see any of your pictures. :(

A lot of the photo hosting sites like photobucket are blocked for me at work. So there are a lot of peoples pictures that I can not view during the day, hence the reason I do not comment a lot.

I always get excited when I see a new detail has been posted by someone only to get bummed when I see the photos are blocked.

That's the problem during the day when I am at work. Then I usually forget to check back to the thread when I am at home in the evening.

Thankfully AG's photo gallery is not blocked.

I've wet sanded a few cars now, and it really doesn't get any easier for me, especially when you look down and the driveway is stained red from all the paint being removed from the sanding:

That picture is awesome. Again without the help of someone who's been experienced I wouldn't be able to muster up the courage to put the pad down against the paint. I'm sure its as similar a process as polishing but I still don't know.

Also, I don't have a rotary so cleaning up after sanding would be not a fun chore ;)

Is that a Chevrolet Impala, by chance?
