hey...that was some amazing detailing and alot of hard work you put into it...pictures do say it all..so how many man hours did it take you to come up with such a beauty
Thanks a lot for this comment. The entire detail took 3 work days. Most of time while working I'm inspecting for areas to be detailed, re-inspecting already detailed areas for the need of another 'pass'. I may stop and stare while 'thinking a lot' about how I can get the most improvement possible from solving minor issues, that summed up in the end will give a great overall result.
The use of knowledge gathered here makes the time you're 'not working hands-on' worth money.
The time spent staring and inspecting is as valuable as the hands-on time, since I always have fresh knowledge, products and techniques I may learn to use in this forum.
However, when I dial-up an effective approach to the problematics, I may turn to 'detailing mode: ON' and just stop (to drink water, but) when I'm done.
Whenever in doubt, I may create a thread here and count on fellow geeks for suggestions. Being part of such community is as important as having the best products available to get the job done.
Great job & How To ! Lots of stuff to learn on this Forum !
Thanks! I plentifully agree, this forum is awesome. Although it cannot be seen, I answer lots of PM and support new members via instant messenger always I can. Why? I feel in (huge) debt with AGO community since they helped me unconditionally to improve my detailing. Some even 'adopted' me as detailing son, I will never make enough to payback everything joining this community bring to me, personally and professionally.
Thanks! Really appreciate your input.
You did a fantastic job man
Since buying my new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage I feel like I want to do a coating, not just on the paint but the graphics I added to the car, makes sense to coat it, very small car so it should be done quickly.
Again great job on such a dirty car.
Thanks! I'm following your Mirage threads since you made the switch. I also enjoy every improvement you are making to it, the wheels, graphics, etc. I saw your detail on it when arrived, and I can't see why Mitsubishi dealership haven't hired you already!
PBL are very great products, and although durability claims may be excessive, I can see them lasting (at least) longer than sealants and waxes, which were my primary objective when first ordering them.
You also have the option to add a layer of wax on top of it if that's your wish. The coating booster, and PBL cleansing polish for maintenance 'duo' is a very easy, fast and effective approach. Easier than doing AIO polish.
After applying it, I rest assured it'll not 'wash away' like occurred in the past when I used to apply waxes over customer's finishes. It may 'fail' eventually, but following customers in monthly maintenance washes is enough to avoid unwanted surprises.
Durability claims, every customer wants to hear at least 3-5 months from a wax, so when you see wax weakened before this time, it's hard to convince someone to pay extra for another application. 'Haven't you said 3 months?' It's hard to explain what I mean, but no one wants to hear they will need to have the car detailed and LSP reapplied every month. This is where PBL coatings are winning the scenario for me.
In fact, I'll be ordering 'PBL 2.0' as soon as it releases, since I know this product has a lot of potential and AMPLE space for improvements. From now on, I'll try to stay on top of the best this market has to offer.
However, to date, it's being the underlying basis of what I do, and I may say I'm relying on a solid basis to sell my packages, and maintain my work. I would not be supporting and using it if I was facing constant failures. I'm sticking with it because after every maintenance (I have customers coated ranging from 1 to 6 months) it's a pleasure to wash and bring the car back to a very good state, effortless.
My point of comparison is when the car first arrived 'undetailed', which took long hours just for the washing procedure, and in fact turned out after needing extensive clay and polishing.
Wash after wash, customers are very happy with what happened to their autos before/ after meeting my garage.
I never up-selled/charged PBL, and never claimed bulletproof properties. Just giving realistic expectations to customers (and having your own expectation in a realistic level as well), you'd be able to get the most from this product.
Just a tip, if applying over your vinyl graphics, do a cleansing step (maybe diluted APC to avoid discoloration, but to remove dirt, grease and grime), wash it, then - spray, work, and wipe off soon to avoid 'staining' of graphics if it dries unevenly. They will bead the water like you're expecting it to.
I'm applying the coating to all trim, including porous trim on bellow parts some cars have. After the thorough clean and coating application, this trim is being cleaned much more easily, and comes back to the state I've left them. They bead and sheet water, are easily dried, and I'm also seeing they will not 'absorb' water when wet avoid water stains on it.
That said, although many concerns about coating porous trim, from experience I may say it's holding really well. Best tip: Clean it thoroughly before apply.
Is PBL the best LSP to date, a Perfect Miracle, the end-all LSP problems? Not even close. But it's on par with the best protections you can have. Remember, this is just the beginning! Can't wait for what will be the next step over it, and surely I'll be updating altogether with the market options.
Great to hear from you Claude, whenever I talk about great detailers who helped me out improving my skills, you're surely on that list.
Thank you everyone for support,
Count on me, always.
Kind Regards.
