the new owner and i can't quite figure out how the paint got as bad as it is.i told him it was either a from a scuff and wrap or a TON on auto car washes. regardless of how it was damaged it's fixed now.

i used
Rupes 15
Meguiars M105 with 5 inch MF cutting pad
Menz sf4000 on Rupes yellow pad

for the small stuff
Porter Cable with 3 inch backing plate
Meguiars M105 with 3in MF cutting pad
Menz sf4000 with 3in LC CCS white pad

the paint was topped with Menz Powerlock



i did de-trim the hood and some of the trunk plastic, the parts came off so easy it mare more sence than masking and fighting them during polishing.






after a little test spot



all finished i don't normally make trim this glossy, but the customer requested extra pop.









 
i used this stuff called Imperial Shine i get from my locate supplier. i usually use 303, i like the 303 a bit better because it's not as shiny.
 
Beautiful transformation Matt! Wow! It looks 10x better! What did the previous owners wash it with!? A Brillo pad!?

Was your test spot what you used over the entire vehicle?

i did a test spot on the hood and the front quarter, the hood had much deaper scratches and required quite a bit more compounding. i used the same method for the side panel, but they requires less compounding steps.
 
The previous owner works in the construction sector, I run away from such cars & people :-) later tell you why hahaha!
Your work is amazing, you gave this car more than it deserves.
 
Great job on fixing the damage! I have a friend who bought a black Tahoe that looks just like that. It was a previous rental car in Colorado and had been run through hundreds of automatic car washes with rotating brushes. Some of the the rental car agency's use those tunnel washes and destroy the cars finishes.

Previous owner wanted it matte black ;)

Amazing correction though! Really brought the life back to that black paint. :dblthumb2:
 
Nice work! I don't know why Jeep uses such a soft paint on these. Every Jeep I worked on last year was like this. Came out great though.
