All I can say is DAMN! this thing is nice. It's a 2012 with only 35k on the odometer and while I have no idea what it sold for, I can say it's likely worth it. HUGE power, ultra luxurious, quiet like a coffin and this exact one inside looks just like new. This is what my wife and I should move into as our replacement for the minivan now that the kids are older. Definitely on my list of shopping now.

Came to me as a referral from a previous customer and swirled to death. The owner tries to keep it clean but the wheels/brake dust are a huge issue. The fronts aren't just dirty, what's shown is etched into the clear on the wheels - or at least was. PIA to clean up but they did so very nicely. More to come on that.

Until then, this baby is now a true black metallic and sparkles like a clear summer sky. Very cool metallic that is hard to capture in a way that shows it's true beauty.

100% correction achieved and sealed up with two coats of Ceramic Coating to protect her day-forward.

Beautiful Paint that is remarkably clear: Better be for the money right?

I love the flake. Hopefully today's weather is nice and allows me to capture it better.

Great job!

Do you have any pics on how bad the swirls are before? What products did you use? How long did the detail take?

Can't see the pics.

I'm not familiar with that model in terms of maintenance. I'm on my 4th Rover in 20-something years. Some models are dramatically better than others in terms of maintenance and tco (total cost of ownership). All great trucks in some ways and can be huge headaches in others.

Research is your friend if you're serious about buying one. I have always bought used with one exception and my only regret was the new one. Extended and 3rd party warranties generally pay for themselves with these trucks. They are not Toyotas and you have to think about them differently.

I got 250K miles out of my first Rover with no major repairs. At 120K on my current one and expect to go at least 250K with it. My mechanic has 320K on his and it's doing surprisingly well. Compare this to my previous one that had 2 engine replacements. Surprisingly, the models with Jag engines seem to very well. The BMW years were generally not good mechanically.

I'm actually horrible about before and often after pics. My clients usually drop off the night before and when I get started I'm focused on staying on my time line so as to maximize my dollar per hour.

It was basically covered in very fine swirls. Not horribly deep but it looked like it had it's share of poor washes and thus prevented the flake from popping out. Now it clearly looks like the flake is 3D and below a mile-deep ocean of clear coat. Very cool. Paint was about 4-5mils all the way around.

Products and Process included:

  • Wash with Gold Class
  • Iron-X Chem. Decontam.
  • Nano Sponge Med. for Phys. Decontam.
  • Flex 3401 Buffer
  • L.C. Purple Wool with Meg's Ultimate Compound for Cut
  • L.C. Hybrid Force White Pad with Meg's M205 for Polish
  • Wiped down with CarPro Eraser to remove dust any oils from my hands, etc.
  • McKee's 37 Coating - did two coats 1hr apart. I use CarPro applicators & Suede covers to apply
  • CarPro Reload applied 1hr after coating cured
  • Treated the Glass with Rustoleum Never Wet Glass

Total time was just over 8hrs but that included plasti-dipping a small portion of trim on the back for the customer as it was flaking it's silver material. Turned out great.

Beautifully done.

Range rover imho is the sexiest suv on the market

That metallic paint looks stunning (well, now it does)! Beautiful work pdq.

FYI, pic issue is due to me being on my work laptop. Outside content filter is blocking Pbase. Forgot what machine I was using...

It is but unreliable to many problems.Once worked for a rr dealer owner got rid of the franchise. They came a long way since then but 80k for a SUV rr.The best problem free car today believe it or not is chevrolet. This info comes from jd powers.

Great job!

As for buying one, had 2 and they were the best offroad vehicles I ever owned! They were always off the road getting repaired :bump2:

Cool cars and offroad prowess, horrible horrible horrible reliability. If you buy used, buy from a dealer or carmax where you can buy an extended warranty.

Those driver's side front hood shots and that flake poppin' and glistenin' are unreal. Just beautiful work.

Nicely done! Did you raise and lower the air suspension as you worked from top to bottom?

Thanks! I have a pair of Quick Jacks that I use to lift vehicles up. Let's me get wheels on/off quickly, provides more clearance, and also helps save my back and knees :)

Nice ride, but I would never want to own one. Too many problems, which is pretty sad considering how much your paying for it.
