I was proud to welcome my first client at the new shop. He had called in november, a month prior to receiving his new Audi A5 and was anxious to get it protected immediately. After explaining the situation the client agreed to wait until January when things would be ready on my end. He agreed and was thrilled to be the first client in the door.

First a foam bath to get things started. Chemical Guys Citrus wash & gloss with Optimum power clean in the foam cannon. 2 bucket wash with CG citrus wash clear.

Cleaning everything in anticipation of Opti-Coat

Vehicle was treated with Iron X, dried, and clayed with Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay. No major fallout on the paint to speak of.

Trim was then taped off to protect during the polishing process

Paint measurements were then taken with the Highline meter. There was a healthy amount of paint on this Audi with most readings in the range of 180-210 microns.

Inspection of the paint under LED flood lights showed the existing swirls

Plan was for a 1 step polish followed by protection with Opti-Coat. Several test spots later I learned this was going to be a 2 step affair.

Menzerna FG400 + Optimum microfiber cutting pads
Menzerna SF4000 + Lake Country CCS green light polishing pads

Taking advantage of the sunny conditions outside to check I was hitting the mark

After polishing the car was again foamed and washed. then dried and wiped down with Car Pro Eraser.

All exterior painted areas, trim, & wheels were protected with Opti-Coat (professional version)

A look at the final results

The first of many happy clients in the Mr. Sparkle garage!

Beautiful work, I a going order the Eraser soon. Is it a big improvement over a traditional IPA?

I find 'Eraser' is easier to work with than diluted IPA and certainly smells better. adds a bit of lubrication also so not to marr the paint at all with the MF towel

Very nice work. Healthy paint numbers for sure. In your first picture, is that a Mat & Water Reclamation System?

First of all, congratulation on the new shop. Looking good and super awesome job on the car. It always gives you a great smile and pride specially your first car on the brand new shop. Great results.

thanks for the comments on the shop

that is the CG water reclaim mat. Just recently bought it, already ran over a valve and crushed it. so kinda user error but I have to contact them to see how they handle it.

Sorry to hear about the valve. Curious to see how well that mat holds up.
