If you have any Iron-X, now would be the time to use it. It will get rid of the rail dust that is most likely on the surface. Then clay the car. It probably has atmospheric residue on it that the iron-X won't eliminate.

I'm have some Iron-X coming to use on my Boss 302 this weekend, just have a question about this product. I've done a search but couldn't find any answers related to my question so here it goes.

NO!

The stripes are thin vinyl.

There's is no reason to use Iron-X on your paint unless it has embedded ferrous material in it. If you clay the paint and it's smooth and there are no rust colored specs in it, there is no reason for Iron-X.

Mike Phillips has always preached using the least abrasive product to get the job done. There is no point in using any chemical on your paint if it isn't absolutely necessary. I don't pretend to know the exact chemical process involved in extracting imbedded iron from paint, but it can't be very gentle.
 
For vinyl stripes i would not put anything on them other than detail spray or products specifically made for vinyl.

I have vinyl stripes and three years later they still look new.
 
if you get swirls or micro marring your going to need to be aggressive with the buffing.

I went orange pad and WG TSR 3.0. came out 90% LSP ready.
