this car was purchased at an auction after being retired from an LA rental car fleet. needless to say it saw it's fair share of automatic washes and neglect.

after a little color sanding, a ton of compounding and polishing with my Rupes 15 most of the defects came out. there were quite a few deep scratches that won't come out, but for the most part it cleaned up well.

testing compound/pad combos on the driver's door.

the roof cleaned up nicely

the spoiler gave me a lot of trouble, there are still quite a few scratches on the small lip before the flat black lip.

final foam bath with Optimum car wash, i really like how well this soap foams with the MTM foam canon.

Looks Great!

What combo did you find worked best for the Ford paint?

honestly i tried a ton of different combos but M105 and HDCUT were my 2 main compound on a Meguiars MF pad. i polished with Menz pf2500 on a Rupes yellow pad and topped with Menz Power Lock.

the paint on the bumpers was extremely hard, even after a few hours of work there was only a moderate improvement.

this is the first car that i really wish i had a rotary.

Looks great!!

I've never seen a rental car with Hertz Penske plastered on the side. Is that advertising for the rental company on the side or a special edition?

I wouldnt buy that car with Hertz Penske plastered on the sides, my opinion, just sayin..

this is #143 of 150, these were special editions cars only released to Hertz. the have a few more horse power, cool Recaro seats, and a few Penske Racing placks on the dash adn in the engine bay.

I retract my prevoius stmt..

Maybe if the lettering was gunmental or matte black it would be more appealing.

Nice work!

I too bought a car from auction that was a rental. A low mileage black aford Crown Victoria. Great shape all around, but they beat that paint up washing it 3-4 times a week

It started in 1966, here's the excerpt from the history (source ####):

1966 Hertz models
Shelby struck a deal with the Hertz Corporation to produce a special line of G.T. 350s for rent that, after their rental-car lives were finished, were returned to Ford, refurbished, and sold to the public as "GT 350-H" models.[10] Most Hertz cars featured gold LeMans stripes and rocker panel stripes, although a few were white with blue stripes. The first 85 Hertz cars were available with four-speed manual transmissions and Hertz advertised them as "Rent-a-Racer" cars.[11] During rental, these cars were sometimes used as production class cars at SCCA events, and were rumored to have been returned to Hertz with evidence of roll bars being welded in.[11] Hertz ordered the last 800 models with black paint, gold stripes and black interior, as well as automatic transmissions.

When the Hertz cars were returned to Ford to be prepared for sale to the public, the high-performance parts were often "lost" (presumably at the manufacturer) before final sale.[12]

Nice work.

Reminds me of one my fathers jokes;

What are the two fastest cars I the world?...
The company car and the rental car.

Or at least they are driven like they are.

He was a big Mustang fan. I think he had 67(15 citations in one go, including car chase) GT, then 98 Cobra, then 04 with same motor as the 98 Cobra
