Finally got a chance to do a full correction on Portia. Dealer had some scratches/swirls on it, but nothing too major. Was only sitting on lot for a couple months, but amazing what dumb dealer detailers can do to a car.

My process was as follows:

1) Wash/dry - 2 bucket grit guard, with lambskin mitts, then
  • Chemical Guys (CG) Honeydew
  • Optimum No Rinse (ONR)
  • wheels cleaned with Optimum Power Clean/Daytona and boars brush
and dried with CG V7, and leaf blower
2) Clayed with Sonax clay (this stuff is just "ok"... a little bit harder than pinnacle clay. Left some minor marring.)
3) Using Flex 3401, corrected with white CCS pad using Menzerna Power Finish
4) then gray CCS pad using Menz Super Finish
5) then applied CG Blacklight
6) then applied 4Star Ultimate Paint Protection (UPP)
7) then applied Dodo Juice Supernatural.

Overall time invested, 10 hours.

Here are the results.

Enjoy.

Very nice job love the shine in the sun. I bought my wifes car brand new from the dealer 13 mazda 3 and it was dirty on the lot. When we bought it I Asked them to not wash it. They laughed and thought I was joking. They said they never had that request before. When I got it home after I washed it it was full of swirls from incorrect washing. I am so grateful to have autogeek on my side. I do it for the enjoyment and seeing the results. I love detailing and always will. Jeff from Ridgefield Wa thx AG

Awesome job! Love that color...
Had a question - you said "and dried with CG V7, and leaf blower"
Why would you dry it with CG V7 and then clay and correct?

Nice..

Considering that its from a stealership, I hope you got compensated for 10 hours of your work.

WOW thats a nice blue! Very good job.

Nice work on Portia. That is a beautiful blue.

Great job :) great color.

It looks beautiful! Great work

Wow! That came out incredible great work!

Thanks so much guys. Sorry I was out of town yesterday, sorry for late replies.

The blue reminds me of my Kona Blue on the mustang, except it doesn't have the red flakes. So depth-wise, it's not as "intriguing", if you will. I still love the metallic tho!

My aching back at least has some assurance that it was a job well done.

thank you all again.

Claying can be done any time, as long as it's completed before buffing. I use a leaf blower to get the major water out, especially in crevices, then I use several MF's and CG V7 to get the dried up water taken care off.
