Although I don't have enough pictures for a full thread, hope I can share this experience through some shots I could take from this (intensive) work.
- VW GOL is synonymous of popular car in Brazil.
For 27 years now, Gol is best seller in Brazil and in 2013 people bought 255.071 units.
This car is very functional, it's known by the good performance and durability, sturdy and cheap maintenance. Generally this is the car that companies buy for employees who needs to travel a lot. It's the 'daily driver in essence'.
It's not a luxurious car (far from it), but it can offers (the expensive versions) mainly the major comfort and tech items, maintaining everything in a very basic fashion.
The cheaper versions may have 2 doors, non-hydraulic steering wheel, any electronic (manual windows and side mirror) and a 1.0l engine. Very simple. This was the 1.6l complete version.
It's also an easy target for thieves, the most robbed car ever... :/, that to maintain the parallel market of auto parts.
This black 2013 Gol 1.6 had lots of bad swirls and many scratches, waterspots, also hologram I've had to 'fight with'. The defects were so instilled in paint that they went almost all the way down, which made me struggle to finish flawless over them on this soft black paint.
Using a cautious approach, I've slowly and carefully polished the entire car with SF4000 on white and yellow hybrid pads - followed by same polish on gray flat pad to achieve an acceptable finish.
Some before pictures are at car arrival, in 'dirty as it is' condition.
According to owner, car was in 'good condition', only dirty. Im the MAN
Criteria of correction was dictated by my 'horror finder light'. It won't forgive any (even the finest) swirl, so if it looks great under it, it'll look great mostly anywhere.
Car was fully washed and detailed from top to bottom, starting from wheels (?!) haha

Hood Swirls
We all see swirled / hologram cars everyday, but how bad is this?

...!?
Side/Back panels appearance under light:

The Test Spot - Asking the paint
Test spot started with Menzerna PF2500 on white hybrid pad (Upper part of Picture above tape line), but soon I've noticed I should try SF4000 on same pad (Lower part of Picture bellow tape line).
That's because I've experienced correction of defects but also some haze with PF2500. You can notice correction level was pretty similar, but personally looking SF4000 finished way better.

One more test spot with SF4000 on white until I feel secure of my decision:

Anyway I had to finish it out with a gray finishing pad. Those swirls were so well installed that won't came out totally in a single step!
The sides were bothering me the most, so I've tackled them after test spots to see how they would correct:

Still inspecting closer
I always try to move the car in and out (when possible) for re-inspection under different conditions:

Door handle (driver's side) progress observed at the same condition as above. Still needed improvement on this part as demonstrated by during picture:
Before:
During (under handle polished by hand using FG400)
Hood corrected:

From This:
To this:
Car was entirely cleaned by hand using PBL Cleansing Polish and received a complete treatment of PBL Surface Coating.
Coated for curing overnight,
Shiny from Above
And from the front
(When Arrived it was only a popular car looking for the light at the end of the tunnel)

Next day by the morning inspecting the final finish before delivering:
No more swirls and holograms,
Just some deep scratches that remained...
If asked / payed / needed to, I would tackle those RIDS with some localized sanding, but that was not the purpose of this work. Let's remember it is a DD!
This was a very challenging work that was done with much passion summed up with all knowledge I could get from you, AGO family.
Thank you everyone for watching,
And sorry for the lack of beautiful 'beauty shots'.
I appreciate Any question, comments, critics, always welcome.
EDITED: All work done using Flex 3401 polisher.
Kind Regards.
