Just wanted to give a brief rundown on this truck I just finished up for a customer. This customer bought this truck brand new and only uses it on the weekends to pull a boat and likes it clean and at its best. The customer had the Auto Butler Paint Protection deal where the dealer does a full detail and applies a paint sealant every six months. I wash the vehicle and do a basic detail about every 2 weeks or so for the customer and then they take it every 6 months for the Auto Butler deal. The customer brought me the truck to detail before his trip this weekend and we got to talking about what exactly the dealer does in their Auto Butler details. I explained that the vehicle is run through an automatic car wash which is terrible for the paint (I know the dealer he bought it from so I know this for sure). I showed him some swirling and scratches that where instilled in the paint in which he wanted removed so I told him that if I detail the truck and seal it with my chosen products every 6 months although it will cost more the truck will look much better and be in much better hands than at the dealer. So he had me go ahead and do it and he would decide whether or not to keep the Auto Butler services. So I went at it.
The truck was not really dirty it just had some dust on it so I did not do a full wash like I would normally do.
Step One - Wash:
Using pressure washer I rinsed wheel wells, running boards, tires/rims, and splash guards.
1. Cleaned wheel wells and splash guards with Simple Green All Purpose Cleaner.
2. Cleaned wheels/rims and running boards with Meguiar's All-Wheel and Tire Cleaner.
3. Rinsed all paint work/Windows.
Step Two - Dry:
1. Dried entire vehicle including tires/wheels and wheel wells with forced air.
2. Followed up with a drying towel to touch up drips.
3. Wiped paint work with Meguiar's Gold Class Quick Detail Spray w/ Meguiar's Supreme Shine Towel.
Step Three - Decontaminate:
1. Clayed all paint work and plastic light covers with Meguiar's Clay and Meg's GC Detail Spray.
Step Four - Polish
1. Polished all paintwork and plastic paint work with Car Beauty Pro #1 Polish/Protectant (1st time using this one) with DA and SM Arnold Medium Cutting Pad.
Step Five - Dressing
1. Meguiar's Dressing on Tires, wheel wells, splash guards.
2. Meguiar's Supreme Shine Protectant on Bumper plastics, bed rails, cowl panel, grill, door handles
3. Mother's VLR on Tonneau Cover.
Step Six - Protect
1. Meguiar's #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax on entire front of truck, hood, bumpers, and headlights.
2. Meguiar's Spray Wax on entire vehicle and wheels.
Step Seven - Glass
1. Clean Glass with glass towel and Stoner Invisible Glass + Rain Repellant.
Also used Mother's All-Chrome on the running boards.
My main feature here is the product I used for polishing. I know it's a dealer product and many people think it's cheap but I think it turned out great on this application. Just a few shots of the paint work.
