So a friend of mine picked up a really nice daily for his wife and wanted to give it a full coating protection so that maintenance on it day-forward would be much easier and that any road trips it heads out on will make clean up of bugs and debris a snap.

The vehicle has 6k miles on it but it was still in like brand new condition with near zero marring so we decided on the New Car Prep package with CarPro Cquartz UK v3.0 as the solution. The vehicle has loads of plastic trim protecting the lower rockers and wheel wells so we also decided on the SiO2 Trim Coating there too. This will ensure it stays as dark as shown here for quite a while, that it will shed dirt very easily and of course be protected from all the much that typically layers on top of it.

It's a medium dark grey metallic with a hint of a purple tone to the flake. It's often hard to show how well certain colors turn out, especially greys or silvers but this one comes through quite nicely I think.

  • Washed
  • Iron X
  • Nano Sponge
  • Polished with CarPro Essence on Rupes 900 Mille with Rupes White Ultrafine Polishing Pads
  • Coated with Cquartz UK v3.0
  • Trim done with Gyeon Q2 TRIM
  • Wheels coated with Gyeon RIM
  • Windshield and rear window coated with McKee's 37 Glass Coating
  • Sides coated with Gyeon CanCoat

Beautiful finish! Metallic paint's poppin', wheels/tires and wells are bright and shiny and the blacks are perfectly black again!

So the side windows have the Can Coat ?
Any reason why you did not use the Mckee's ?

Yes. CanCoat is SUPER hydrophobic and I find it better than McKee's. I only use it on the sides and rear (if not equipped with a wiper) as they will skip and jump.

Love that metallic!

Thanks! What's really cool and hard to capture in a photo is the depth of the shine. I always love seeing metallic flake pop with a couple good layers of a coating over a fine polish like this as it really looks like there's a layer of clear over the flake giving it the appearance of being deep down under the clear. The owner noticed that on the curves of the car and it made me smile :)

I completely understand. My truck is just a shade lighter gray metallic. When it's all polished/sealed/waxed, it has a wow factor X10. But in pics, well they just don't do it justice......... :/
