I haven’t posted in a while because business has been really good. The other mobile detailer around me went back to his desk job, and my google search moved up to the top 3. I have worked 7 days a week most of the summer.
This is my personal business vehicle I use for mobile detailing. We had some rainy weather so I couldn’t do much mobile detailing. I took 5 days and did my first polishing of my new (to me) Jeep.
If you have worked on Jeeps before you know, there are so many angles, hinges, latches, tight spots, ledges, rails, and on and on. It takes an arsenal of tools and pads. Just cleaning out the “cracks” between the body and fenders requires Moto-Floss cleaning thread like I use on motorcycles.
The paint was I excellent condition when I bought it. Just a few light swirls. No chips, no etchings, etc. I got so lucky when I found this Jeep. The color hides marring very well also. Someone had really taken care of this Jeep!
So while it was in good shape, I was going for perfect. I used three polishers, and 1”, 2”, 3”, 5”, and 6” backing plates. It is literally 99% perfect. I have never had the opportunity to really do a perfect polish (or a customer that wanted to pay for it!)
I put Blackfire Pro Ceramic Black Edition on the roof and I used McKee’s37 Hydro Blue Pro spray on spray of sealant on the rest of the vehicle. I did this because as my “show vehicle” I want to buff out any marring right away and so I dont want to waste expensive coating. The roof has pro coating to deter etching from leaves and bird droppings. The black edition has a long flash time allowing me to do large sections of the roof before it flashes.
Here’s my list of tools and products:
Chemical Guys Clean Slate wax stripping soap
Autogeek clay
Optimum No Rinse as clay lube
Flex XCE 10-8 Orbital Polisher
Flex XFE 7-15 Orbiral Polisher
Griots G8 Mini Polisher
Meguiar’s 210 Ultra Pro Finishing Polish
CarPro Gloss foam pads
Lake Country ThinPro foam pads white
Lake Country SmartPads foam pads white
Chemical Guys Wipeout paint prep
Blackfire Pro Ceramic Coating Black Edition
McKees37 Hydro Blue Pro
If you made it this far, thanks for reading!
