2021 Tesla Model Y Dual Motor
Midnight Silver Metallic
303 mile range, 155mph top speed
0-60 in 3.5seconds

New client, new car, was interested in a coating to maximize the protection of their new ride.
Best paint I’ve seen on a Tesla to date. Still a bunch of defects, but not as bad as I’ve seen on previous vehicles.

The ‘details’:

Gary Dean Shampoo.
McKee’s37 Iron Remover.
Medium Clay Mitt.
Adam’s Wheel Cleaner.
Adam’s Tire and Rubber Cleaner.
Adam’s Rinse and Coat to seal wheels/calipers.
Flex 3401.
Flex pixie.
DeFelsko PTG.
ScanGrip/GYEON lighting.
Griot’s Perfecting Cream.
Adam’s Surface Prep.
Adam’s Graphene Coating.
Blackfire Tire Dressing.
Autofinesse Glass Cleaner.
McKee’s37 Quick Interior Detailer.
GYEON Leather Shield on all seating surfaces.
Metro Vacuum.

Thanks for looking!

Strange spotting/chemical marks on the black trim

How is the Tesla paint to work with? Is it "soft" like a Toyota?

Nice work as usual !!!! Finicky paint or not... you always win.

I done several of these as well and I am amaze at the factory installed defects option every single time.

Plus.... I find the mentality of a Tesla owner quite different than most. Most new car owner wouldn't stand for the fitment and paint issues at delivery but the Tesla owners I dealt with seems to take this as a price of admission. Maybe I am too old school. LOL

As usual----awesome work!

Always look forward to your posts---Your listing of products and tools are appreciated very much!

Tom

Thanks everyone!

Paint is soft.

I'm not an electric car kinda guy! LOL

Thanks Tom, glad you find it useful/informative and I'm always happy to help!

Thanks Bob, you as well, and stay warm! (and safe and healthy!)

The front of the car looks like a fish. lol

Scott -

A beautiful job on a not so beautiful car. Was the Griot's used as an all in one? If so could you provide some information as to your pad choices? Thank you for the lesson.

Enjoy the holidays.

Nice work and documentation!

Sent from my SM-N950U using Autogeekonline mobile app

Amazing work on the car and with the camera! I’m envious of skills the folks on this forum have developed.

Great work as always Scott. What was your process to clean up that trim?

Thanks for the comments all!!!

No, Griot's was not an all in one as it does not have any protection 'built in'. I only used that due to the soft nature of the paint, the vehicle only needed a 1 step correction.

As for the trim, I used the same; Perfecting Cream and the same White Polishing Pad, Lake Country Force Hybrid Foam Pad.

Thanks again for the comments!

Always love your work Scott. I have done 2 model Y's. Both black, and both owners knew how Tesla paint was bad. Then i show them the paint under my Scangrip light..... Then I manage expectations. The last one had sanding marks everywhere, even under the clear, Just a disaster of a color to try and get results that I am happy with.
On a side note, It is the end of the year, and I need a new calendar. Since I have more of a man crush on you than Tommy, I would like a calendar with you 2 posing with some of your best details. Nothing too terribly creepy, 8 months of Sizzle, 4 months of Tommy. I have an unopened tube of Dr Beasley's Z1 to trade. Keep me posted on the Calendar

Billy, I'd be all in on this for you my man!! LOL, Mrs. Sizzle is losing it after reading that!
