What i did was clean both outside panels of my daily driving truck hood with DP WATERLESS WASH. The truck has no other protection on it as you can see by the center section of the hood.this truck is never washed ,is daily drivin and sits out side 24 hours a day, so i figured it would be a good true test for the products involved. On the drivers side i put 1 coat of FK1 2180 sealant and let dry to haze then removed.On the passenger side i put duragloss 601 left on and combined the 105 and let dry then removed. The start date for this test was NOV 21st 07 [day before thanksgiving]i will update the test randomly over time and post pics.
the first pic test done dec 16th 2007- my visual findings almost 4 weeks into test is they look ,bead,and feel identical to each other when it rains. when dry they look almost the same,i had someone who works for me look at the two panels[and he knows nothing about detailing] and he suggested the drivers side[2180] "This side looks a little more shiny than the other"

In the first picture the passenger side has all of the clarity and depth. The drivers side you can't even tell it's a tree. It could be the angles on the hood ????

I'm assuming it's because yours had no prep before, but on my DD, at 2 months, the 601/105 combo still has very nice tight beading. How was the beading when it was fresh?

:iagree::whs::goodpost:

I tried 2180 and was not impressed much by it. I really like DG #105 for protection.

Remember, prep is the key. In this case it envolves polishing...

Passenger side looks better. I with supercharged "Remember, prep is the key. In this case it envolves polishing".
Next time use #101 or #501 and work it in with your PC. Then apply a coat of #105.....

Not sure why people are getting so defensive,The point of the test is to take a car or truck with no protection on the paint and see what each product brings to the table. Personally right now i think they look exactly the same as i expected them to.It is an even playing field for both products, i followed the instuctions on the the products.im not trying to prep the car to get the product to last as long as i can,most people dont even own pc nor will ever polish a car for that matter but what most people will do is apply a wax or sealant to paint on a car or truck that sits outside 24hrs a day.

Not getting defensive at all, I just have never seen DG 105 bead like that. As mentioned, it's due to lack of prep. No big deal. Thanks for sharing.

wasnt really refering to you blk45, yes beading was tighter when applied ,but in the month its been on there its snowed once and rained about 8 times.After the snow and ice is when the beading changed.

Cool, no problem. :cheers: I don't think I will encounter snow or ice! So I should be good. :D
