After those miles on the road, I'm still recuperating, but close to being back to normal.

A vacation/ road trip was made last week with my wife and our dogs. I wish we had more time at each stop.

States covered....

  • Oklahoma
  • Missouri
  • Arkansas
  • Tennessee
  • Mississippi
  • Louisiana
  • Texas
Spent some time with family and friends, watched fireworks on the beach in Biloxi with the dogs on the 4th *didnt know until the morning of the 5th no dogs are allowed on the beach*, wondered the streets of the French Quarter and laughed at the comments about our great dane.

Most notable memories from the trip

  • riding a motorcycle I raced in the early 1990's *still looks the same thanks to a friend keeping it safe!*
  • Waterfall in Arkansas
  • I hate Memphis. This was my second trip there, and both have been bad.
  • Mississippi's tree lined roads! almost no billboards! GREAT LOOKING!!!
  • Beach in Waveland, MS. *dogs allowed*
  • Goat Heads!? I thought we left these in Oklahoma!
  • New Orleans... good food, bad smell & people freaking out at a 135lbs. puppy.
  • Race Track in Dallas! FUN FUN FUN!!!! O wait a second, thats just the highway.
  • Sleeping most of the day we returned home.
Blackfire spray and several microfiber cloths in ziplock bags were part of the trip.
Had 1 rinse while in Missouri at a local car wash. Spent several hours with the shop vac collecting sand after returning home.

Planning the next trip.... SEMA!!! errrr.... maybe.

sounds like an AWESOME road trip!!! One day i'll just jump in the car and drive cross country! You got any pics you can put up?

I tried to plan a similar trip this gear but opted for a trip to Florida and Chicago. How did you plan what you wanted to do and was the hotels expensive or where did you stay cause when I thought about doing it I planned on camping at night.

i'll post a few photos tomorrow.

as for the trip, we had most of it planned a few weeks in advance. staying with family and friends a few nights, and opting for a hotel in Biloxi and New Orleans. Due to limits on the size of a pet you can have at most chain hotels, we felt Very fortunate to find no limits for the size at La Quinta Inn. Each night stay was around $115. 5 miles from the beach in Biloxi and 2 blocks from the French Quarter in New Orleans.

I'm not sure how many members are familiar with dirt circle track racing, but I really felt I needed to be driving a sportsman car in the Dallas traffic.

was actually nice to see part of the country without it being for work, or from a coach seat or airport.
