3,215.4KM Illinois, through Canada and back.

I grew up just south of 8 mile, been to Hardcore Pawn but never the truck plant. The fist is cool, represents the D well. Did you stop and get a coney dog?

Saw the fist and the spirit of Detroit across the street but didn't know about where to get a coney dog? We didn't spend a lot of time there, maybe next time.

You went to Detroit and didn't stop at Lafayette Coney Island???? Tell your wife you guys need to head back and actually experience Detroit!! ;) :p :dblthumb2:

2BM with ONRWW and a meguiars MF mitt, 1 grit guard in each bucket. Used hot water even though the car was in the basement garage. There were some small spots on the paint that took a fair bit of gentle rubbing to remove but overall it came clean pretty easily. In a pic or two you can see the Generac PW I have. 3100psi and something like 3.0gpm

We did a tire rotation (F/R, R/F) and while I had the two wheels off on each side I sprayed the wheel wells with OPC then blasted away and there was a good deal of salt caked on the well surface. Then I used the 4 nozzle undercarriage flusher and completely flushed the bottom side to further remove anything under there. Then inside to dry.

Well I did get really good at seeing and dodging potholes. Managed not to take any really good hits so I think the alignment is intact. I'll admit there was a lot of the abandonment and depressing sights but it's home for a lot of people so it's their place to live and work.

Thank you for saying it the way you did instead of the usual bashing that I've been used to hearing. There's a lot of reasons why the D is the way it is but the area as a whole is a great place, it is still the Motor City!

Will do, looks like a worthy stop. We're going on a trip again this summer so this will be on it, thanks!

I know we were constantly seeing loaded car transports going this way and that.

Looks great. Thanks for sharing the after pictures.

thanks, the dark cloudy day before our winter storm and the inside lighting leaves a lot to be desired for pics. the white is the very fine metallic red/green/blue , kind of a pearl really.

Quick question, what made you guys go this time of year?

well.. long story lol. We almost always go on a trip from the 26th and return the night of the 1st or 2nd. Believe it or not, until the week before Christmas we were trying to decide on a trip to Key West for the 1st (just for the warm weather mostly, don't know about their celebrations lol), and return on the 2nd. Wife's boss decided to be open on the 2nd (wife is asst director), this meant the Key West road trip was out as we couldn't be back on the 2nd and see NYE in KW.

Our backup plan was going and staying with wife's cousin in New Jersey and go to Times Square. Both KW in January and Times Square are on the 'bucket list'. Same reason why we could not do the TSQ NYE as it's 2 full days driving back.

2 years ago in the Fall we went to Niagara Falls in September and spent 12 hours in Canada looking around. Since we wanted to go back we made the last minute decision to drive from home to Windsor Ontario and stay the night. We then wandered across southern Ontario towards Buffalo NY, stayed the next night, then wandered North to Toronto and thereabouts, CN Tower and other things. Stayed there, next day headed back to Windsor, had more poutine and shawarma, just checked out the 'real' Canada (supermarkets, 'local' things you know).

Got up the next AM, went to Hardcore Pawn, met the crew, then to the Fist and Spirit of D, Dearborn truck plant drive-by, headed to Bloomington IL where we have family stayed there, went out to eat, stayed for NYE then drove home on the first.

Really we like to do things last minute and enjoy using the 'Roadside America' IOS app. Awesome and we had a blast.

Until the last day in Windsor, the temps were quite similar to back home.

Hellspawn, you guys should go back to the D sometime and do the Woodward Dream Cruize! Its always the 3rd Sat in August where there's over 50,000 cars and about 1.5 million people spread out over 16 miles on Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac and back.

Great job on the clean up there - car looks like new :). We only did a 1,500 mile total round-trip from MD to WI.
