Hi Mike,
First, I want you to know that I sincerely appreciate you sharing your expertise in both the forum and your video's. In a word, you're "Awesome!"
I'm a newbie and very eager to get started in detailing my truck, motorcycle and boat. I'm leaning towards the LC 5.5in. flat pads due to them being so popular/favorites of the majority of reviews that I have read. On one of your video's you're using a 3" pad on the Griot's Garage polisher. Is it possible to use a 3" on the PC? If so, could you please let me know what would I need to set up the PC for use? I would also like to use an extension between the PC and backing plate for better viewing. Your help would be most appreciated, Thanks, Ray

Hi Ray!

I don't see why not. I use 4" on my Porter Cable 7424 without issue. Extensions between the machine and pads on dual action polishers are not recommended..

3M has a nice offing of 3" pads

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and the links BobbyG. You're right, after reviewing Mikes video (video below "Time mark 4:10") he used an extension on a Flex rotary. I would like to ask you a question; I plan on using 3", 4", and 5.5" pads. Will I have to change the counter weight on the PC or will all of these pads work fine with the stock one? Thanks again for your help, Ray

All the pads will work fine. Only thing you need to change is the BP. I use 3" pads on my Griots and PC all the time.

Hi,
I've been searching for some 3" pad options. So far I've only come up with a couple offerings from Griots Garage, orange & red (links below). Correct me if I'm wrong, is the orange used for swirls, imperfections and all-in-one cleaner/waxes? Also, would the red be used for sealants and wax? The descriptions of either one is a little vague. I also found the 3.5 Lake Country beveled edge pads (link below). As a newbie, I have an important question; What backing plate would I use for the 3.5" Lake Country pad? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray
