So, I know you need to wait for 30 days after a vehicle is painted in a body shop before applying sealers, waxes, etc. What about cars new from the factory? I just took delivery of a vehicle literally built less than two weeks ago.

If it has rolled out of the factory then you can(/should) polish and seal or maybe coat it ASAP!

Factory paint is cured at high temperatures or under IR lights in order to accelerate out-gassing(its possible as only the metal shell is painted and no other plastic/wiring is attached yet) and once it leaves the factory, the paint is safe to be sealed/waxed/coated!

I've seen cars getting buffed at the end of the assembly line itself after all the installation is complete and its on its final leg of rolling out of the factory!

OT - I wish I could send my car to the factory for a full diss assembly, repaint > accelerated curing, and reassembly. Thats the only way I can get a perfect paint match :D

In case of generic bodyshop where one gets a single panel repainted etc. The curing can be accelerated if the bodyshop has IR lights and the part to be cured is away from or isn't attached to any plastic parts!

If no accelerated curing facilities are available, then one has to wait for at least 30 days! I waited nearly 2 months before wetsanding and buffing my repainted panels. (Just stating)

I can't really add anything to what sohail99 has posted, other than to agree that the paint is fully cured at the time the car leaves the factory, no waiting required.

Thanks guys. Yeah it's too cold to deal with polishing/etc. at this time of year so I'm just going to hit it with some WG spritz sealant to get me to Spring when I'll hit it with a full clay, polish as needed, seal, carnauba. I just didn't want to put it on and find out I should have waited.
