300 cars a day @ $15

While I agree it's good for him and making a life for himself doing this.. but I very much don't agree that he is calling it 'detailing'

My sentiments exactly, that is not detailing as far as I'm concerned.

of course its not, 90% of the 'detailers' out there are glorified car washers

Who cares, he's making more money than most people in this thread, his customers are happy, he's happy...and he's doing it all 100% ethically.

"Detailing" is just a nicer term for him to sell his service. "car washer" sounds like an awful job. "Detailer" sounds much more specialized and professional. Its all about perception, not reality.

That may be true that he's earning more money than most people chiming on this thread, but...

if anyone on this thread opens a Detailing Business in front of him, that will be a game changer, and you'll earn as much money as he does.

I mean,

He instill swirls and you remove them, in an endless wealthy cycle.

My 0.02$.

Although I appreciate his efforts and his wellbeing style, he's honest and no doubt works a LOT. That's admirable from this point of view.

Kind Regards.

Interesting.

Write ups on 20+ hour paint corrections are great for the internet, and will get strangers to compliment you on your hard work.

But there is A TON of money to be made in quick washes. Good for him for knowing his market and offering the right service. Also nice that he is providing jobs to those who otherwise may not have the opportunity.

90% of people don't care how a car gets washed! They just want shiny! It's good to see a guy being able to help others make money in a good way.

I agree 100% with this.
There is more than one way to wash a car, that's for sure.
The type of detailing that's generally done and talked about on these forums and similar forums is simply not for everyone because of the costs and time involved. Majority of the people who get a car detailed are not going to spend over a certain amount which is realistically $100-$200 dollars and for washing it's probably under $25 for MOST people.

Brilliant. Build a carwash however you like, staff it well, and spend your time on detailing/upselling. Kaching.

This sort of thing is the reality for 98% of the car buying public. Detailers and people who can't stop touching their cars are about 2%. Although we glorify professional detailers and their work on forums the reality is that McDonald's is making more money than all the five star joints worldwide combined 1000 times over. Think about it.

Notice reporter in very beginning there is a service menu behind him, not for sure but he may be Car wash/ DETAILING

I dont understand how there is no water? A guy was using a pressure washer?

This is a great idea. This is my kind of business. I may be looking for an empty parking lot to rent in the spring

He's a businessman... Not a detailer. I have too much pride in my work to make the switch to that, but that's where the real money is.

More power to him.

I'm lucky to get about 10 cars for basic washes at $40 rate on a Saturday. Most of the customers are exactly as described, don't care, just want shiny and cleaner.

Do you really get $40 a car just for a basic wash? Can you please share with us your definition of a basic wash?

I applaud him for making a solid living and hopefully supplying a few others with such, that said I could never do it. Now it does make me think that maybe a touchless tunnel and a heated detailing bay up here could be much more profitable if I were to be able to come up with the capital to fund it.

Yes,

Degrease/Clean Wheels &Tire
Pre-Foam
Rinse
2 Bucket Handwash or (GD method Rinseless Wash depending on weather)
Blow/Hand Dry

That's pretty basic to me.
