3000grit i cant remove it easily

Hey mike ,,,
I sand an audi hood with mirka 3000 and after the first hit with mf and d300 i was still seeing some tiny sand circles under lighting .. I then try with surbufs and m101 and the circles left..

My question what went wrong .. the sand pad was perfectly fit in the Machine ,speed was 1,5 and no pressure also too many water.. one Friend told me that my backing plate was't too soft for sanding ..

I had the same issue with DA and MF/D300, I dropped my speed down to 2 on the Griots and everything was cleared up.

Best to use foam interface for sanding.

Those are nice disks. I use the same, but I also use an interface pad to ad cushion

+1 If you didnt use a interface pad the hook and loop material on the backing plate probably made contact through the sanding disc with the material you were sanding.

i was used only mirka to the backing plate ..Do you quys believe that is this the problem?

Even with the 3000 paper with foam behind it is still not enough cushion to keep the actual backing plate from making contact. You can see that the foam is pretty much the same depth as the hook and loop material on the plate but once you add some downward pressure the foam on the sanding disc collapses and the hooks on the backing plate will make contact with the surface beneath it. Thats why you need a foam interface pad between the sandpaper and backing plate.

You might need to drop down to 2000 or 1500 to get those marks out
