I purchased a Labree exhaust for my 300zx five years ago and never really gave them the love they deserved. I was installing new sway bars today and had the mufflers out so I decided to give them some much needed tlc.

Initial cleaning was done with Meguiar's Super Degreaser.

I performed some light sanding with Meguiar's Unigrit discs and paper and followed up with Wolfgang Aluminum Compound (works well with stainless steel).

After a wipedown with CarPro Eraser, I threw on some Opti-Coat 2.0 and wiped away the left over high spots.

Loving the way these came out. Might have to do the same thing to my Miata's exhaust. :coolgleam:

Looking great, but why would anyone turbo charge a muffler, much less two of them?

Very nice attention to detail. You've must have gone through a lot of trouble to do that.

Awesome job !!! I did the same thing to my Stillen exhaust on my 300ZX when I installed it. Makes a huge difference.

I've had a 25yr love affair with that car.

When I first laid eyes on her, it was love at first sight.

Great job on the mufflers my man, salute!

Came out REALLY nice!, thanks for sharing.

Do you mind commenting a bit how you worked the WG compound, I mean, which pad, speed, pressure, how many passes, etc... If you also can comment on what #grit you used to sand, I'd appreciate.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Kind Regards.

Wow nice work.... looks like new

Isn't the opticoat just gonna burn off.

The exhaust tips might be fine but I can't imagine that it would last on the muffler.

Sure, Sanding order was 800, 1000, 1500, and finally 3000 (Unigrit disc). I worked the product with a Lake Country wool pad at speed 5 medium pressure. Didn't make too many overlapping passes because it didn't seem like I had a very long work time with the compound. Some areas I polished by hand.

The mufflers actually don't get all too hot even after a long drive. If Opti-Coat can withstand the Texas sun cooking my cars, I figured it can withstand the temps of the mufflers. I'll see if I can test its durability a little later down the road.
