That is why I will no longer wear anything metallic when working on cars. I still have the watch band branded into my arm from when I learned not to. 45 years ago.

How could you not be thrilled by that gloss?!? I consider myself hard to please as you do but that looks great! Great pictures and write up. My CQUK is coming in Wednesday so I will be doing the same with my car. As soon as school let's out I will be polishing and applying the coating. I think you need to change your avatar picture to your truck now!

Also, how long are you going to allow it to cure? I am planning on leaving my car alone for at least a week, probably more.

Another thing, did you use Reload? It is supposed to complement CQUK in that it allows the curing process to be undisturbed by contaminants, providing a sort of extra layer (temporarily of course).

Lol I've just seen other cars look almost unrealistic with a coating so that's what I was expecting. I didn't apply the reload yet I prob will next weekend. I applied it to a small area and it left streaks that looked awful so I emailed Corey at carpro and he told me the way to do it with out getting the streaks.

31 hours is serious dedication. Great job. Looks new off the lot.

How do you plan on making the results last though? How did your truck get that dirty to begin with? :P

I'm with you, my Z had so much gloss before, the 22ple vx1 pro coating wasn't a big deal but it does look nice and if it's more durable on black then I'm happy. Truth is polishing correctly gives you all the shine everything else is "hype" (quote junkman, haha)

Well for a month we were having bizarre weather. Sunny one day rain the next. I wanted to apply the coating but I wanted to wait till I had a week of clear skies and warm temps. Unfortunately as stated that took a whole month. By the time I was ready I had to pick my son up from CA which is 800 miles round trip followed by the same trip a week later to drop him off. On those trips I ran into swarms of butterflies lol. On top of all that my drive way is 500' and ends in a dirt lot for another 300' to the road. It used to go all the way to the street but when the city came out the grade was too steep so it had to be redesigned and at that time we were in the hole with money.

Yeah 31 hours kicked my butt lol. On the bright side it was broken up over 4 days :)

That engine turned out amazing. For some reason I always seem to have a hard time with patience when it comes to engine bays as there is so many nooks and crannys. But man, now I want to go do my dodge's engine bay knowing it can look this good.

To be honest it was my first time doing an engine. All in all it was pretty quick. Here is what I did that saved some time. I disconnected the neg battery connector. This way if water got on the alternator or anything sensitive there wasn't a chance for it to short out. I didn't invest a whole lot of time protecting everything. I mean don't get me wrong I covered sensitive things but I didn't make them 100% waterproof. I didn't pre rinse either. I went ahead and sprayed a TON of megs APC and let it sit for a min. Then I sprayed more APC and went over everything with a paint brush kinda quickly. Sprayed a little more APC while I grabbed the hose and with low pressure rinsed everything off. Before it was 100% dry I sprayed a bunch of megs hyper dressing and went at tight spots with a paint brush and bigger areas with a micro fiber rag. Once I was done with that I removed all the protection and didn't connect the battery cable for a few hours. Reason I didn't connect it for a while was because I kinda half a$$ed wrapping all the electronics and I didn't want to possibly short out anything. All in all that method only took about 30-40 min from start to finish.
