3401 felt ring disintegrated.

Anyone have the felt ring on their 3401 get hot and basically disintegrate? I did not oil it, it’s completely my ignorance in not doing so. The machine works great. Any damage in using it without it?

ruined mine once by putting too much uneven pressure on it. ruined the felt and the backing plate. I bought replacement parts and used a high temp bearing grease on it (very little amount) so far so good. About 6 months ago. I would not run the machine without it

I'm not too sure about that good question, i always try to remember to lube the white felt wing
every now and then. That being said i've yet to have any problems with mine going on 3 + years.

same thing happened to me, fail on my part. I put some 3 in 1 oil on the new ring and no issues since
