360 AIO transformation of a Peugeot

Greetings,

Today was my first time doing AIO to a client, without a correction step. I'm truly OCD to the vein, but I've learned here we need to meet clients expectations, not ours (most of time).

The car was a Black Peugeot 307.

That said, I've agreed with client to 'bring the car back' to Well Maintained state before a full correction job.

Everything was arranged this way because time was an issue to both of us.

After all, I admit I've liked this 'split' detail. Looks like I'll start ahead when fully detailing, but let's see how things will happen in the following weeks.

So today, I've just washed really well, clayed, and cleaned the paint with an AIO (XMT360). As I always do to every client, I've included the bonus (see the at the end).

This product was enough to clean, polish, get rid of most fine swirls, and bring the paint back to good condition. Deep scratches wasn't removed, but looked way better.

Interior was fully cleaned and detailed (pictures soon).

Let's see what we've got:

(Sun, bad camera and restrict time didn't help the after pictures, but the during pictures may have something interesting).

Product and pad choice

Hood spot for test chosen

Test spot using 3 kind of pads - I've ended using all the pads, MF for flat horizontal panels, HT for vertical/lateral and bumper areas, and flat pad for inferior areas. This choice was based on ease of use as the test results looked pretty similar with the 3.

Hood all done, in one step, cleaned, polished and sealed.

Roof, done.

Pads used, and the BONUS of the day: Topped the AIO work with Liquid Souveran Wax. How easy on/off this product is?!

That paint was pretty beat up and you brought some life back into it with the AIO. Nicely done.

I like the test spot area pictured. If you had to choose one pad to get the job done, which would it be?

Excellent way to show how to test multiple pads with a one-step cleaner/wax.

We're going over this today at the Detailing Boot Camp Class using XMT 360 also to show "production detailing" with the Flex 3401.

Black looks so much better cleaned and polished! The more I use the microfiber pads with the flex the more I like them.

Firstly, I would like to thank (very, very much) everyone who took it's time to comment on my results. Keep in mind that you're the responsible for this: apart of taking care of cars before knowing AGO, I've became a Detailer only after reading and re-reading most of content we have here.

I mean, I owe all I've got and know on this subject to you.

Looks very nice. About how long did it take with the AIO?

Hello, thanks for comments. I've tried to work the product until it disappears, like recommended. For that, I needed Moderate to High pressure, high DA speed (5.5 - 6 to foam pads / 4 to MF) and slow arm speed. Results were gathered mainly in 6 to 8 section passes.

If I found that results could be even improved in a section after that, I would re-do some passes or even the whole area (now with higher arm speed covering more area at a time, but area that was already worked once 6-8 passes).

If product turned clear in less than 6 passes, I would add more product to get at least the minimum passes I've stipulated.

Takes time (I estimate 2 to 3 hours). Could take less if I 'care less', or long, but to take longer than that I would cut with a compound or heavy polish and use XMT360 for refining / LSP in some 3 large area fast passes. I mean, taking longer than that would not be an advantage to use an AIO (IMO).

Thanks Mike! Until the test spot I was very worried about what I would get in only one-in-all step, the pictures were kind to the car condition, it was really beat up.

Doing a test spot this way takes a bit of time, but it was well spent time. I could see what I could achieve, and how to achieve that.

If I had to choose one pad, I would go tangerine HT all the way.

Also, looking forward to hear about the Flex on those situations. 3401 is my next (as soon as possible) acquisition.

I like using a AIO for my cars also. My cars are light colored so its easy to clean them up and make them shine. I also use a topper to make my work last longer

I also learned to prep cars first and to use the proper pads.

Nice Work.... We have detailed a lot of cars with this product, XMT 360, and I must admit, it is pretty amazing. The results are always impressive for an AIO. We have also experimented with different pads, to achieve different results. Dial up the aggressiveness and the correction ability of this product is pretty outstanding, or you can dial down the pad aggressiveness, and it will leave a beautiful shine and seal.
We also top it off with Liquid Souveran. It is a great combination that will achieve great results every time. A very good combination for production detailing. And we do a lot of it!!!

I too love the XMT360 and topping it with LS is a GREAT idea!!! I usually use a Lake Country CCS orange or green or even a white pad with 360 and they cover all the different situations I have seen. Obviously it wont cut into a deeper scratch but then again it wasnt designed for that.

I too am considering a 3401 and 6.5 or 7.5 pads especially for an AIO type repair. I just cant justify the $349 price tag until I get a couple more details hopefully this spring.

Thanks Safari Car Wash, great comment. I'm happy to hear your thoughts on this product and the reinforcement on using Liquid Souveran as topper. Actually I have a single 2oz Souveran bottle, but based on the experience after using and your comments on that there's much more in my actual shopping cart. Apart from liking the XMT360 results by itself, Souveran fitted perfectly, easiest wax I've used to date. It improved the slickness and warm glow to a new level.

Thanks van185! I've had less success with 360 on my first try when not doing the proper test spot and applying in a hurry with white polishing pad on a very hard paint. That time I still not had the MF pads or the HT. Lately, switching pads and improving technique I've found exactly what you said, one of the best products around. Thanks for comments.

Thanks zmanjohn! Like I've said above, topping the work with Souveran improved slickness and warmth of glow, gearing the final results to a new level. Because of it's ease of use, I do plan to always top with this wax from now on.

Thanks dcjredline! Nice to hear from you. It's exactly like you've said, the product is awesome but obviously we can't expect 'Uber' cutting on it. Knowing the product potential and limitations lead us to make better choices when detailing.

Flex 3401 is a dream I have since I've joined this community (stated in my introduction topic). Until a few weeks I couldn't justify the costs even, but the truth nowadays is that I won't survive the market if I don't start to improve my equipments. Time is starting to be an issue to me. Hopefully I love my G220v2, so it will be always with me for polishing / LSP and Spots.

Hope to get mine, and hear you've got yours!
