3D/HD Compounds/Polishes clarification

Have you considered M101 seeing as you are familiar with M105.

don't you guys have dusting problems with both? when i use M101 it dusts like crazy its awful you get those little dots all over everything

Guz answered everything accurately and is right about AAT being FASTEST and is aimed at body shop/fresh paint, where HD has longer work times, easier to use, and is more geared towards detailers. All 3 lines of abrasives are body shop safe as well as fresh paint safe.

While the information above is correct, 3D ultra compound and ultra polish are flip-flopped with HD Cut+ and Polish+. 3d ultra compound/polish is FAST and is the lowest priced abrasives 3D international produces and is meant to compete as a competitively priced abrasive geared toward production body shops. The 3D ultra abrasives have a longer work time, less abrasive load, and are heavily lubricated so they tend to preform best on gel coat due to the extra lubricants in the polishes.

HD cut+ and Polish+ are what 3D says is FASTER. I have used every polish and compound 3D international has developed and have gone through AT LEAST 32 ounces of each, including 3D ultra(Fast) and AAT(Fastest). But I can honestly say that the HD line is the best of both worlds and provides both the ease of use and long work times of the 3D ultra line AS WELL as the correction power of the AAT line. I truly believe that if you need a compound heavier than HD Cut+ you would be better off using a compound from a different brand entirely. For me, every polish 3D international makes is incredible. But they just do not have a compound with the cutting ability of compounds like M100, M101, or Menzerna SHC 300.

Hope the helped!!!

3D Ultra=Fast
HD=Faster
AAT=Fastest

really, i tried the hd polish plus and i thought it wasnt great. it didn't finish down as good as m205 when i used them side by side

I used DP's All In One Headlight Restoring Polish with excellent results.

Depending on the condition, just wet sand with 1500-2000-3000 then polish with DP and an orange pad. Never used MF. From there I've sealed mine up with Blue Magic Headlight Lens Sealer. I usually seal them with various LSP's when I do my cars. Never had issues and results have been great.

Here are some after:

Here's a before of the Honda after a quick clay bar and wipe down to remove gunk.

Agree.

Not crazy either with the HD stuff just speed and that's it.poxy wasn't some special sealant from mars.used it once and that was it gave it away.

It's great on a lightly moderate swirled car that is 2 years old.Or if you have to bear down on correction as far as force and product aggressiveness speed will clean things up beautiful. For its price and performance it's a must have.d151 is a great aio and has stronger cleaners and cuts better .It all depends on what your working on.

Sonax products are overlooked but not greatly appreciated. They are awesome easy to work with and cuts out all the confusion.yesterday I did a white single stage Toyota tundra was faded bad but not as bad as others I've worked on.my dial in process was d151.So I started with d151 made the truck shine but if you looked closely there was no clarity.Switched pads still the same promblem.I could of done the truck with 151 but I give every customer the best.So I switched up to cut and finish on a micro and what a difference gloss crisp and clarity was restored.went over it with hi temp finishkare and truck was beautiful.HD speed didn't make a dent in the finish unless I stood on the paint with heat and pressure and may get high and low spots.Sonax is pretty much I use,but speed is still a must have for lighter correction or for a car that needs to be amped up quickly with ease.

I have. My biggest problem is I've read countless things about M100, M101, and M105 and there's nothing consistent about that info. I don't like using something unless I have a good idea about the product.

What info are you looking for? I have used all three.

Sure but it's not as bad as M105. It also has a longer working time over M105 and won't turn to concrete on the paint when trying to remove it.

Not crazy either with the HD stuff

I agree with you on this statement.

Just wet sand with 1500 or 2000 and then polish with HD Polish. Job done.

If you want to protect them coat them with Gyeon MOHS. Simple job.

HD Polish+ is WAY better at finishing than M205 in my experience. If M205 is finishing better than Polish+ for you I would try it again. I thought the exact same thing the first few times I tried it but I read about the polish and realized these two products require two completely different techniques. With HD Polish+ the best method is to only apply 2-3 tiny drops on a dense foam pad (either closed cell or euro-foam). With HD Polish+ you almost want to purposely overwork the polish because it has a way longer buffing cycle than m205 in my experience.

I would agree if you would have said it doesn't have as much cut as m205 but when it comes to finishing down. There is nothing better than HD Polish+ in my experience.

I would agree that HD cut+ is a fair/poor compound but it is phenomenal on golf carts and john Deere lawn mowers believe it or not.

I think you should like the towel clean. The cut on Speed depends on which pad you use with it but it will finish nicely with a softer pad.
