3D HD Speed?

I played with HD Speed today on my wife's 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe today. I used my GG6 on speed 5.5. It turned out great, I really like this stuff.

Did the car have some moderate paint defects? What pads did you use?

I have a car that I want to polish and was wondering if using HD Polish or Speed might be better. Don't want to go too aggressive because the paint is a bit thin I believe. I would be topping either so I'm thinking Polish might be better suited.

Thank you.

No not very bad. I used a couple Adams flat white pads, one Adams white hex pad that I didn't like with this, and one Lake County flat white pad. Not sure why I never tried a pink pad, just didn't. I really like how it turned out, I may have to try it on my car tomorrow with a pink pad just to see how it works.

I have used a carnuba wax on top (Mothers...gasp) and just the HD speed itself.

The Speed is amazing and beads up water just fine on its own. I couldn't tell a "deeper" look from the wax on top vs the HD Speed by itself.

HD Speed is my only AIO product (Also my first AIO instead of the Menzerna products I normally use), and I don't have a reason to find an alternative since I'm happy with it.

Not sure if the link to this video will work, it is from 3D products Facebook page about HD Speed. In it, it says run the machine fast for polishing, slow for sealant. Does that mean I should make a couple passes with the machine turned up, then a couple passes with it down, or just a few passes with up if I want to polish and seal?

The only reason to dial down the machine speed is to deposit a thicker layer of film on the surface as it also deposits more sealant too. Hope this makes sense? If not let me know....

Yes thank you very much.

Is it okay to top HD Speed with a wax like Hi-Temp for longer lasting protection?

I am thinking about getting the 3D HD Speed polish with 6 Green BS Pads for a first time detail. My question is what do you finish with? I know it is an AIO, would you still finish with a coat of wax/sealant or just let it ride? If so, what wax or sealant works well with the 3D HD Speed?

Thanks,

Powerlock great with speed especially on vibrant colored cars and 2 very user friendly products.

Used HD Speed today on my 2013 Honda Accord. Temp outside was 60 degrees. I used a PC with yellow Megs foam pad and I had severe dusting with it. I kept the pad clean too. Anyone have any idea why it would dust so bad. I've read on here that it doesnt dust at all. Anyway, not to happy with it as it barely touched minor swirling in the paint. Is there a stronger/better AIO to use with Honda paint?

HD Poxy is a great finisher to Speed as it's in the same family and bonds very well.

I had dusting when I primed the pad. Did you prime the pad?

I haven't used Speed, but have read nothing but good about it. Maybe if you explain your complete process with it someone who regularly uses Speed can figure out what went wrong. Then maybe you can get it working properly so you don't have to buy another product.

I didn't prime the pad, started out with 3 pea size spots on clean pad. I did work it in the sun but was under the impression that isn't an issue with speed.

I've used HD Speed and McKees 360. My impressions were that 360 cut a little better, and protected longer. It could not, however, match the glass and slickness that Speed delivered. For the record, both products were used with Griots 5" Orange Boss pads, as well as Chemical Guys Hexlogic Quantum orange pads.

I have used HD speed in the sun in 80 degree weather and I did not get any dusting, but it did clump up on the pad. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

Pad may not have been thoroughly cleaned,I've had dusting from old product left in the pad
I'm getting better at cleaning them

I've never used HD Speed, but just from what you're describing as working in the sun [on a warm/hot panel] and starting off with only 3 pea sized dots sounds like it could've needed more lubrication to start off with.. More like a circles worth of product instead of just 3 dots. I also agree that your pad may not have been as thoroughly clean as it should've been.

I had a similar thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago when I tried Megs D166 with a different kind of pad and suddenly it was crazy dusting.. Turns out my pad that hadn't been used in a long time wasn't as clean and free of previous compound dust as it should've been.

Everytime ive tried using a 3d hd product with any of the megs pads except the black ive experienced dusting. I have used a variety of lake country and bns pads without issue. Products used hd polish , hd polish+, hd speed, and poxy. Could be because my megs pads are my oldest but its done it with both burgundy and yellow consistently.

You used 3 peas sized spots of product on a clean pad.

Questions,

1: We're you working on paint in perfect condition?

2: We're you working on paint in neglected condition?

:)

I would say moderate defects, visible swirl marks and some rids but definitely not hammered paint.
