3m Buffer or Makita?

New person trying to decide between the 2, they look similar and 3m products always seem to be top notch. Makita is great too, please help! Thank you

I couldn't be happier with my makita. Top notch, tuff, weighted nicely, great speed adjustability, as well as with the hook handle, bar handle, or no handle. Very dependable.

My Makita is six years old.

Still looks and works like new. And it has been used more for sanding wood and polishing metal, which is much harder on the tool than polishing.

After I am done using it I wipe it down. And if it was used with wood I go over it with a stuff brush to remove all the sawdust.

Have you looked at the Dewalt 849X? It might make your question a moot point.

I have a 3M RB in the studio and it works great for a heavy duty, full size rotary buffer. I'll take a little video of it buffing out some sanding marks for you.

Just purchased the Makita 9227 myself and it has quickly become one of my favorite power tools I've ever used. It's so smooth, and it does have a slow start up which is nice - I almost went with the Dewalt over it because of the start up feature. It isn't a concern with the Makita, and is hands down just as solid of a buffer as the Dewalt is.
