3M paint protection films - opinions

Ok, I bit the bullet and had the 3M PPF applied to the hood and door edges of my car. Is waxing near the edges of the film going to be a big problem, for instance will it be difficult to buff out dried wax from the edges? If so, any tips?

Tape it up before waxing. If it gets under it it's incredibly difficult to get it out and do to it safely you don't want to risk peeling it up. Just take your time waxing around it and always buff off away from the clear bra toward open paint.

I agree that it's better to tape it up but there have been times that I messed up and I found that a toothpick, mineral spirits, and/or IPA on a microfiber have all worked. Best to use a wax that's trim safe - that way any edges may be safer if you don't tape up.

My advice, grab some painter's or automotive tape (or maybe the 3M vinyl tape?) overlap the edge by an eighth or quarter of an inch, and then you won't have to worry about it. No matter as careful as I've tried to be, I've messed up occasionally and it's better safe than sorry!

I've had the 3M product on my black Buick for two years now, and am quite satisfied.
