3M Tape DAMAGED window molding!

Window gaskets can be cleaned with ordinary APC and some elbow grease. Mine leave a black residue on the microfibre towel which tells me it is down to the base material. I then use Gteqnic Trim Sealant to restore shine. You need to get to the point where the cleaner is showing black on the towel/shop towel. Most aggressive is Acetone,Zylene, Lacquer Thinner these will all cause damage if left on too long so EXTREME caution. Just an idea would a glass shop have a product too clean the gasket after installing a new windshield?

I used the search function to see some info on taping... really trying to understand when people tape panel gaps, how they don't get to a point where the edges look dull.

Anyway, to the OP, I have to say, the glossy parts don't look bad if they stay that way, so I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, if it doesn't come off, then I'd do the rest if possible so it was uniform.

... but again, off to find out how people don't have dull edges with all the taping going on. Good to read about putting tape on pants first, then car to reduce the adhesion. I think I'll just tape, polish, remove, tape, polish, remove... it'll give me a break. Also, not polish/heat up the tape.
