Okay here is my problem, order a 7424xp kit and it came with 4 4"orange pads. I ordered extrs white and red pad to complete the 4" set. The orange pads velcro on the back does not go out to the edge as seen in my pic below. The white and red pads the velcro does meet the out side edge. The Orange pads are failing/sperating about 3/8 th of an inch from the velcro. I am not letting the surface area dry out that I am polishing. The other 4" pads are not developing this problem. I am thinking that there is a lack of structural support with out the velcro backing extending to the outter edge.

I run the DA at 5 -6 when using the orange pads. Making 4 to 5 section passes and making sure the surface is not drying out.

Have any you had this problem? These pads are half the thickness compaired to the other white and red pads.

Please review the pictures, any help will be well taken. I am a noob and I want to do this right.

I was just reading this post and I have the exact same orange pads right behind me to see if any of mine had this problem because I have never noticed, and sure enough 1 out of the 4 does have the exact same problem. I wouldn't think I would effect the performance of the pad if any. On my at least, the overall integrity of the pad seems intact. I guess if it starts to shred or anything while buffing that might be a problem. But if not I would say its not that big of a deal? But there are a lot of people that have more experience with pad failures and a lot of different kinds of pads then me so maybe one of them can give you a little more insight into this. Good Luck! :) Just keep reading and someone will answer your question.

i bought the same kit. its your backing plate, its a tad too large. its not that big of a deal since the pad still works, but a little bit of surgery to the backing plate would fix this.

Just got off the phone with Nick a AG, wow customer service is great. Told Nick what was happening and he is making it right.

AG has some great people that work for them. I will pass the word on to everyone I know that loves to detail cars, and tell them, this is the place to do business with.

I am new to this site and to AG detailing supplies, and I am hooked.
There is some much info from the forum/members and from AG Videos.

I don't think the backing plate and using to much pressure have anything to do with it because I have the same pads and the 1 out of 4 that is doing the same thing as Driwash, has NEVER been used. It came like that and I think his did to.

using too much pressure.

The backing plate is 3.5 " and the loop on the pads are 3", I beleive that any pressure at all would make the edge of the backing plate cut into the pad. All is good now so I am happy and all is well.
