4" pad question...

To allow you to get into tighter spots while allowing more room for error should the side of your pad come in contact with something it shouldn't

If i had to guess maybe because the surface area is smaller and since they are smaller more of a heat build up ?? Or how the pad spins compared to the larger pads. Maybe when you lean on the thinner pads you have to much downward force compared to thicker pads . This is just a guess and if all else fails they screwed up and made them too thick .Feed back please

I know what you mean. I don't like that they're so, so fat! But there is an alternative, have you seen these LC low profile 4" pads? I haven't tried them so I don't know how they feel in use, but if they're made by LC, I think it's a safe bet to believe they're good.

These 3.5" pads look pretty good too.

I did see the low profile 4" pads, but I don't like the fact they only come in orange. I like to have consistent thickness with each pad size. :xyxthumbs:

i have a bunch of the old school flat orange 4" and they work great. the only problem with them (not sure about the current gen) but the older ones had a backing doesn't go all the way to the edge, so you'd have to trim the small backing plate or else the edge of the plate will dig into the pad. but trimming the plate is easy, and it still works great with full-backing 4" "spot buff" pads.

and of course...they are only avail in orange ; )

fyi, i am pretty sure LC makes lower profile CCS 4" pads than the spot buffs, called power pad jr. Autogeek just doesn't sell them...other sites seem to. but again, i'm not 100% on this. i actually just ordered some to check them out, so we'll see.

i like the detailers domain 4" "uber" pads. I'm snapping some comparo pics for you right now...

They have an entire system of pads, that WORKS, and are VERY durable. More-so than some of LC's models (as far as hook n loop adhesion over the long haul). The only LC series I prefer over everything is the Hydro-tech line.

The only pad missing in the pics is the yellow cutting pad , and the black waxing pad. There waxing pad and finishing pad are classified differently as there is one for each. The Uber pads are manufactured by a well respected company that is used in body shops often.

obviously, further info is located on the back of the pad ;).

Awesome, thank you!!!

So, as far as cut and finish, would...

Uber Orange = LC Orange
Uber Green = LC White
Uber Blue = LC Black

IME, on a DA, yes. There green pad is a serious workhorse and finish's perfect imo.

also, there 5.5" pads are as thin as the 7/8th "thin sytle" LC pads. and the backing is stepped, like the Hydrotech pads. (same style as the 4" pad pic I just posted).

Those look like nice pads Mike

Mark, check out how thick the 4" pads are for the flex 3401 (cyclo/edge pads) Wow

I think your correct Corey.. are they not cyclo pads?

with the exception of the stepped velcro area, these look like cyclo pads. i know they aren't, but i'm saying they look like 'em.

i remember when spot buffs first came out and i wanted a lower profile pad that wasn't as aggro as orange but still worthy of a polish, so i just ended up getting green cyclo pads for my PC and i still use them to this day.

I will be having some of these UBER pads.
I've been looking for some 4" low profiles.I like how it tells you on the back which process the colors are for. With all the buffing/polishing pad colors out there (from different manufactures),this is good quick easy reference! :xyxthumbs:

Just saw this over there(DD):
"The Uber Foam Pads now have the step (medium polish/polish/final polish/wax/sealant) stamped on the back of it. "

Hello 4" UBERSIm the MAN (especially with the 20% off)

I agree, this should be SOP for all pad manufacturers.

I should have linked one of these pictures the first time. Alas, I was lazy :)

Cyclo Double Precision pads are double-sided foam buffing pads for the Cyclo polisher.

If you wants pads similar to the ones you show (made by same foam supplier), look at the Cyclo 4-in pads available at AG. They sell a white ultra soft one that I like a lot to apply waxes with a polishing pal.
