That's what I just got, but with it being winter it will be a while before I can test out the pads on the machine.
4" pads on 3" polisher?

I've only used the polishing pads that are made for the Griot's 3" Mini Polisher. I did not use larger pads on purpose as that would be pushing the envelope, or pushing the machine past it's intended purpose.
3" diameter pads are pretty small and while the 3" Mini Polisher will rotate these size pads under pressure I personally would not expect this tool do rotate a larger pad and would not be disappointed if I did try and it didn't work and none of you should either.
While it has more power than the first generation 3" Mini Polisher it's still for light duty work, by this I mean it's still for removing light or shallow swirls and scratches, not the deep stuff.
The results from this test are real, but remember the guy using the tool has a little experience is getting the most out of pads, products and tool, there's something to be said for experience, i.e. spending thousands of hours behind a buffer on just about every conceivable surface or coating material.

One section of the test hood was thoroughly wet-sanded using Nikken #2000 Finishing Papers
Also, for removing swirls, scratches and water spots out of tight, hard to machine buff areas, there's still the Human Hand. It works pretty good actually and with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound anything that can be removed safely can be removed by hand.

So would I be smart to try and return/replace the CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit I got as a Christmas for my new Gen II - Griot's Garage Mini Polisher for the 3" pads specifically for the that machine? I was wanting to be able to use my new 3" machine for the small and tight places and leave my PC-XP set up with larger pads.

The 4" pads come in handy for spot work or small panels, maybe hang on to them for the normal PC but whichever direction you want to go I would definitely get 3" pads for use with the Griot's 3" Mini Polisher.
Their orange polishing pad is a great polishing pad. The red waxing pad is just that, it's very soft so it's only for applying wax or paint sealant. They could use a tad more aggressive 3" pad for better/faster correction work with their polisher but of course with the shrinking in size of pads there's usually an increase in hazing so that could be why they don't offer anything more aggressive than the orange polishing pad in their line.
